Steps
Step 1. Calculate 60 grams of potassium nitrate and 40 grams of sugar
If you don't have a scale, don't worry - the ratio is 3 parts of potassium nitrate to every 2 parts of sugar, so you can use a teaspoon or something.
Step 2. Take a pot, preferably non-stick, and put nitrate and sugar in it
Turn the flame to low. This way you prevent any accidents.
Step 3. Mix
Keep stirring, but not hard, to prevent the material from burning. After about 10 minutes, you will notice that the powder will begin to dissolve a little, like water. It is the sugar that is caramelized.
Step 4. A few minutes later, brown clots will begin to appear
A few more minutes, and the whole mixture will turn brown and mushy, like peanut butter.
Step 5. Remove the pot from the heat and pour the mixture onto aluminum or a cardboard tube
It is very important to remove it when it looks like peanut butter, otherwise it will become chocolaty and then burn.
- Clean the pot. A good thing would be to take a lighter and ignite any residue to make sure the mixture will work.

Step 6. Once the tube is filled, insert a fuse

Advice
- You can use anything as a tube. For example: you could use a Smarties tube, or even some paper.
- Do not let the mixture darken too much during cooking.
- Electrical tape is more suitable, as it is more flexible and easier to handle than scotch tape. But it risks melting and creating disorder.
Warnings
- While cooking, keep a glass of water close at hand; if the dough starts to burn, grab the glass immediately and throw the water into the pot. This will stop the flames.
- When using the smoke bomb, be responsible, do not throw it at other people and use it on asphalt or similar materials.
