Often people would like to communicate a lot of things, but they can't do it. Using a secret language could help you.
Steps
Step 1. This is a long process, so be patient
Start by asking yourself why you want a secret language, and create a word list to see if you can succeed.
Step 2. Use words you made up yourself
Make up words from time to time and assign each word to the real one. Avoid choosing similar words, because they are easy to understand (eg Don't change the word "ketchup" to "chetsap".)
Step 3. Write a dictionary and keep it in a safe place
This dictionary must be similar to a real one, with the words in your invented language and their meaning in your native language. The dictionary does not have to include all the words that are usually in a real dictionary, but only a hundred that you know you will use for sure.
Step 4. Create an alphabet of symbols
Preferably not existing symbols. Use those symbols to spell words in the dictionary.
Step 5. Tell those who will be using your language to speak privately
Also give him a copy of the alphabet and dictionary.
Step 6. Make sure the alphabet and dictionary are the way you want them before giving them to other people
This way you won't have to change anything and you won't have to make your friends change the words.
Step 7. Practice writing and speaking your language on a daily basis
This way you will remember the words as with your native language. Use your words often or you will forget them.
Advice
- Don't use words from other languages (even dead ones like Latin). Use Google Translate on "detect language" to find out if your word already exists in another language.
- Avoid getting inspired by secret word games or people will understand your secret language.
- Try creating new symbols for signs like periods, commas, asterisks, numbers, exclamation points, etc.
- Do not use the same suffixes and prefixes in too many words, (ex. Alopnia, Cortofia, Shirotia, Lopikia, etc.)
- Add symbols other than letters in your language to make it more difficult. When reading your language, ignore the fake letters.
- Make variants of existing languages.
Warnings
- Developing a language could take years. As you go along, you will find that words you thought you didn't need could actually prove to be very useful. Keep that in mind.
- Keep your dictionary or word code in a safe place.
