This article explains how to open the secret maintenance or installation menu on an LG TV.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Enter the Maintenance Menu
Step 1. Make sure you have the original LG remote
Although some universal or third-party remotes can open the maintenance menu, your chances of success are increased if you use the remote that came with your television.
Step 2. Select a TV channel
Using the button INPUT on the remote control select the TV as the video source, then enter any channel.
If you don't follow this step, you may not be able to open the maintenance menu
Step 3. Press and hold the MENU button on the remote control and the same button on the television at the same time
- On some remote controls or televisions, the MENU is replaced by that SETTINGS or HOME.
- Some types of remote control require you to press the button OK.
Step 4. Release both buttons when prompted for the password
Once the code entry field appears on the TV screen, you can release the buttons MENU remote control and TV.
Step 5. Enter the TV code
For starters, try using 0000.
Step 6. Press the ENTER key
It is located in the center of the remote control. Press it to confirm the code.
If necessary, press OK instead of ENTER.
Step 7. Try a different code if necessary
If the menu does not open with "0000", try one of the following passwords:
- 0413
- 7777
- 8741
- 8743
- 8878
Step 8. Consult the maintenance menu
Once you have access to this menu, you are free to use it as you see fit. Usually from here you will be able to change the options for the TV's USB ports, system volume levels, and firmware version.
Consider taking a picture of the screen or writing down the current settings, so you can get your television back to its original condition if you change an important option by mistake
Method 2 of 2: Enter the Installation Menu
Step 1. Make sure you have the original LG remote

If you don't follow this step, you may not be able to open the installation menu
Step 3. Press and hold the MENU button on the remote
Usually you will have to press it for 5-7 seconds.
On some remotes, you will need to hold down the button SETTINGS or HOME.
Step 4. Release the button when the field to enter the code appears
Do it quickly, because if you keep holding MENU the television may try to open a menu other than the installation menu.
Step 5. Enter 1105
This is the code used by all LG TVs to access the installation menu.
Step 6. Press ENTER in the center of the remote
This confirms the code.
If necessary, press OK instead of ENTER.
Step 7. Consult the installation menu
Within this menu you can find the options to enable USB mode for your television. You can also find other settings, such as "Hotel Mode", which changes the way the TV works.
