This article explains how to customize your profile on TikTok using an Android device, iPhone or iPad. TikTok allows you to give your profile a personal touch by adding a unique nickname, a photo, a six-second profile video and links to other social networks.
Steps
Step 1. Open TikTok and tap your profile icon
It is depicted by a human silhouette and is located at the bottom right.
Step 2. Tap Edit Profile
This red button is located in the center of the screen.
Step 3. Upload a profile photo
This will be the image that will represent you on the application. Here's how to choose or take a new photo:
- Tap the link Profile photo top left;
- Touch Take a picture to take a new photo with the camera. You can also touch Select from Gallery / Camera Roll to choose one you have on your mobile or tablet;
- Authorize TikTok to access your photos and / or camera if you haven't done so already;
- Follow the onscreen instructions to crop and save the photo.
Step 4. Add a profile video instead of a photo (optional)
If you feel that an image isn't enough to reflect your personality on TikTok, create a six-second profile video instead. If it hits other users, they are likely to start following you to see more creations. Here's how to make the video:
- Tap the link Video profile top right;
- Authorize TikTok to access your photos if you haven't done so already;
- Select a video from your mobile or tablet;
- Drag the sliders both left and right to select six seconds of video;
- Touch Done to save the new video.
Step 5. Tap your nickname or display name to edit it
The display name is in the first field at the top of the page. Once you've edited it, tap the link Save top right.
Step 6. Tap your TikTok ID to change it
The TikTok ID appears in the second field, next to the human silhouette icon. You can change it every 30 days. Touch Save at the top right to save the changes.
If the username entered is not available, you will be prompted to choose another one
Note:
if the username or ID field is greyed out or you cannot select it, then it has recently been changed and you have to wait.
Step 7. Edit your bio
Tap your current bio or the field where you see the text No biography yet if you haven't added one yet. Then write a text that describes yourself. Touch Save top right when you finish writing.
Try to write the bio in a way that will attract new friends and followers, but avoid spamming and / or promoting other websites
Step 8. Tap Instagram to link your account
Tapping this option will open the Instagram login screen and authorize TikTok to access your account. Once the accounts are connected, the Instagram username will be added to the TikTok profile.
Step 9. Tap YouTube to link your YouTube channel
If you have a channel, follow the on-screen instructions to access and connect it to TikTok. The channel link will be added to the TikTok profile.
Step 10. Tap Twitter to link your account
If you have Twitter, you can link it to TikTok. Remember that in this case you must have the Asian version of TikTok. Enter your Twitter login information and log in to link your account.
To download the Asian version of TikTok, visit this link on Android. In the case of iOS, however, you need to change the region of your Apple ID
Step 11. Tap Save at the top right
Changes made to the profile will be saved.
