This article explains how to check if a user is texting you on Snapchat.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Enable Snapchat Notifications on iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open iPhone Settings
This is the gray gear icon (⚙️) on the home screen.
Step 2. Press Notifications
You'll find the button at the top of the menu, next to a red square that contains a white one.
Step 3. Scroll down and hit Snapchat
The apps are listed in alphabetical order.
Step 4. Slide the "Allow Notifications" button to "On"
It will turn green.
Step 5. Move the "Show in Notification Center" button to "On"
Now the device will show Snapchat notifications.
If you want to see notifications on lock screen, enable the "Show on lock screen" option
Part 2 of 3: Enable Snapchat Notifications for Android
Step 1. Open the Settings app on your Android device
Look for and press the gear icon (⚙️) on the home screen.
Step 2. Scroll down and hit Apps
You will find this item in the "Device" section of the menu.
Step 3. Scroll down and hit Snapchat
The apps are listed in alphabetical order.
Step 4. Press Notifications
Step 5. Move the "Normal" button to "On"
It will turn blue-green.
Step 6. Press the "Back" arrow
You will find it in the upper left corner. You will now receive Snapchat notifications.
Part 3 of 3: Enable Notifications on Snapchat
Step 1. Open Snapchat
This is the yellow app with the white ghost inside. The camera screen will open.
Enter your username and password if you are not already logged in
Step 2. Scroll down anywhere on the screen
The user profile screen will open.
Step 3. Press ⚙
You will find this button in the upper right corner of the screen. The Settings menu will open.
Step 4. Press Notifications
You will find the entry below my account.
Step 5. Press Enable Notifications
The screen will open Notifications.
If you've already enabled notifications, the Notifications it will open without you having to do anything.
Step 6. Move the "Sounds" button to "On"
It will turn green. Your phone will beep or vibrate when you receive a Snapchat notification.
Step 7. Observe the notifications
You'll get a Snapchat notification saying "[Friend's Name] is typing…" when a friend texts you. Pressing it will open the chat screen.
- If you get a notification on your phone's lock screen, scroll down and hit "Open".
- Enable the display of notifications on the lock screen if you want to receive them when the display is locked.
- You can swipe down on the main phone screen to view all recent notifications.
- Once the chat screen opens, you can continue the conversation.
- If you see a blue dot or a user's Bitmoji avatar in the lower left corner of the screen, just above the text field, that person is viewing your conversation.
