When you start using an Android device to do most of your daily tasks, you rely heavily on this little device. From a more detailed analysis, we find that we use it to chat, consult email notifications, create reminders and much more. However, when you are working on your computer, it can sometimes be difficult to check who has contacted us every time we hear a notification sound or to consult a file stored within it when we need to. Precisely for this reason, modern technology has found the solution to make things much easier and to be able to access an Android device directly from a Windows system.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Use a USB cable
Step 1. Connect the Android device to the computer
Use the USB cable that came with your smartphone at the time of purchase. Insert the smaller connector into the communication port on the device. This is the same port that is used to recharge the battery. It is usually located on the underside of the phone or tablet.
- The standard USB connector of the cable is instead plugged into a free USB port on your computer.
- On the device screen, in the notification bar, the USB connection icon will appear along with the message "Connected as a multimedia device". By default of the Android operating system, the device will be connected in "Media Device Mode (MTP)", which allows the transfer of multimedia files to the computer and the latter to access the data stored in the internal memory of the smartphone.
Step 2. Log in to the Android device
At this point the phone or tablet will be detected by the Windows operating system as a USB external memory drive, and its icon will appear in the "Devices and drives" section of the "File Explorer" window. To access the contents of the device select the relative icon with a double click of the mouse, exactly as if it were any external memory unit.
Step 3. Browse the file system of the Android device
After accessing the internal memory, you can consult its entire contents by double clicking on any of the files or folders present.
If you need to, you can cut, copy and move files and folders as well as create and paste new items directly from your computer
Method 2 of 3: Using AirDroid
Step 1. Make sure you have an AirDroid account and are already logged in
Find the app icon on your Android device's Home screen or "Applications" panel and tap it to launch it.
- If you are already logged in you will be automatically redirected to your profile, otherwise you will see the login screen where you will have to type in your credentials and press the "Login" button.
- Do not close the AirDroid application running on the Android device. If you need to do other tasks, simply press the Home button, but don't close the application.
- If you haven't installed the AirDroid app on your device, you can do it now using the Google Play Store.
Step 2. Log in to the AirDroid website using your computer
You can use the internet browser of your choice and the following URL. The main page of the site is the one relating to login to your account.
Step 3. Log in to your user profile
Enter your account email address and password, then press the "Login" button.
After logging in, you will see a list of all Android devices connected to your AirDroid account appear
Step 4. Access the Android smartphone directly from the computer
Select the icon of the device you need to access; they will be notified as soon as AirDroid has established the connection.
- At this point you will be able to chat, make calls, consult app notifications, uninstall programs, clear call and message history, and copy media files to your device directly from your computer.
- Using AirDrop you can access an Android device from anywhere on the globe regardless of the network it is connected to.
Method 3 of 3: Using Mobizen
Step 1. Launch the Mobizen app
Find its icon on your device's Home screen or "Applications" panel. It features a white “m” on a red background.
The Mobizen application allows you to use your Android device directly from a Windows computer quickly and easily
Step 2. Login to your Mobizen account using your Android device
Enter your profile ID and its security password, then press the "Login" button.
Step 3. Install the Mobizen PC software on your computer
You can download the installation file directly from the official website. Click the "Mobizen Mirroring PC version" link on the left side of the main page. Once the file has finished downloading, run it to install the program.
Step 4. Connect the computer to the Android device
Double-click the Mobizen PC icon that appears on the desktop, then log in to your account using the same login credentials you used in the previous step. At this point the program will automatically set the best type of connection to establish (USB, Wi-Fi or 3G / 4G). For example, if your computer is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the program will access the Android device through it.
If you need to transfer large files, you can consider using a USB cable to establish a connection between your computer and smartphone. Mobizen, if necessary, is also able to use the data connection of the mobile device
Step 5. Log in to your Android device directly from your computer
After establishing a connection between the two systems, you will be able to access the memory of your smartphone or tablet remotely. Using Mobizen you will be able to manage all the activities you usually carry out with your device: making calls, replying to messages, consulting notifications, etc. You can also transfer files from your computer to your Android device and vice versa.
