Finding parental controls on your Mac OS X can be a real disappointment. Fortunately, there are a few ways to get around this setting.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Disable Parental Control with Administrator Access
Step 1. Log in with an administrator account
It's easy to disable parental controls on an OS X account, directly from the profile that enabled it, or with another user with administrator rights. If you want to disable restrictions on an account that currently has them enabled, you must enter the administrator username and password; this is a security measure that prevents users without the necessary permissions from circumventing the restrictions.
Step 2. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu and select "Parental Controls"
Step 3. Click the lock icon and enter your login credentials
This allows you to make changes to the restrictions.
Step 4. Select the account on which you want to disable Parental Controls
Step 5. Click the gear icon at the bottom of the preferences panel and select "Disable parental controls for" Username ""
Step 6. Exit System Preferences
You have disabled parental controls for a user on Mac OS X.
This method immediately disables all restrictions and parental controls set on the selected Mac user, so there is no need to manually change the configuration of individual restriction options. The profile will have default permissions determined by the account type, whether it is guest, regular, or administrator
Method 2 of 3: Bypass Parental Filter
Step 1. Use the shortcut to open the parental control filter on the Mac, then enter the control password (you need to know the password for this method)
Step 2. Delete the sites or keywords from the prohibited content list
Step 3. Open the site you are interested in again
You will be able to visit it again.
Method 3 of 3: Bypass Parental Control without Administrator Rights
Step 1. Turn off your computer by pressing and holding the power button
Step 2. Press the button again to turn on the computer
Step 3. Press and hold the ⌘ Cmd + S keys after hearing the power up sound
Step 4. When the terminal appears, enter the following commands
-
With this method you will create a new administrator account (hit Enter after each command):
- mount -uw /
- rm /var/db/. AppleSetupDone
- shutdown -h now
- This method makes the Mac believe that this is the first time you have created an account. The computer will start up and start the wizard to create a profile. Click "Do not transfer my data" and complete all the required fields, such as name, address and password. Do not create a new Mac ID.
Step 5. Reboot your system
Once finished, the computer should shut down. Turn it on again and log in with the new account.
Step 6. Open System Preferences
The account you just created should have administrator rights, so click the Apple icon in the gray bar at the top of your computer and select System Preferences.
Step 7. Click the Account button
Its icon has two black silhouettes in the shape of a person.
Step 8. Click the lock icon at the bottom left to make changes and type in your password
Step 9. Find the column where the computer accounts are listed
Click on the account protected by parental controls. You should see a box ticked with "Enable Parental Controls". Uncheck or change the parental control settings on that profile.
Step 10. Sign out of System Preferences and the new administrator account
Log in to the profile that was protected by parental controls and check if you have solved the problem.
