This article explains how to set up a Smart TV so that it can have internet access. Normally, you can use a wireless network connection using a Wi-Fi router or a wired connection using an Ethernet cable.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Wi-Fi connection
Step 1. Enter the main menu of the Smart TV
Press the "Menu" button on the remote control to view the complete list of TV configuration settings.
Step 2. Select the Network Settings item
Within this section of the menu, you will have the possibility to choose the type of connection and to enter the data necessary for configuring internet access.
- On some TVs, it may be necessary to select the item Settings before you can access the "Network Settings" section.
- Depending on the brand and model of your TV, the indicated menu section may have a different name, for example Wireless settings or Internet connection.
Step 3. Set up a new wireless network connection
Find and select the option that allows you to create a new wireless network connection. The complete list of all Wi-Fi networks in the area should appear on the screen.
Step 4. Select the name of your Wi-Fi network
Use the TV remote control to select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. You will be asked to enter the password to access the network.
Step 5. Enter the security password of the Wi-Fi network
To enter the password you will need to use the TV remote control. After entering and confirming the password, the TV will automatically connect to the internet.
Method 2 of 2: Wired Connection
Step 1. Locate the Ethernet port on the TV
It is usually located on the back of the device. You will need to use an Ethernet network cable to connect the TV to the router that manages your LAN.
Step 2. Connect the Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the router and to the RJ-45 port on the TV
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to a free port on the router and the other end to the network port on the back of the TV.
Step 3. Go to the Network Settings section of the TV main menu
Open the device settings menu using the remote control, then go to the network settings section.
Depending on the brand and model of your TV, the indicated menu section may have a different name, for example Wireless settings or Internet connection.
Step 4. Select the option to enable the use of the wired network connection
At this point, the TV should automatically establish a connection with the network router and immediately have access to the web.
