Steps
Step 1. Decide how to play Words with Friends
You can connect your Facebook account to the WWF application, download the app on your iOS device or download the App on your Android device. After installing it, launch the application.
Step 2. Decide whether to connect your Facebook account to WWF or create a separate account using your email address
By connecting your Facebook account to WWF, it may be easier to find friends to play with.
Method 1 of 2: From the Smartphone
Step 1. In the game, tap the green + sign in the upper right corner to start a new game
The following screen will appear:
Step 2. Choose an opponent
You can play with either a Facebook friend, a random opponent, another WWF user, someone from your contact list or the person physically close to you.
- Using the last option you will have to physically pass the smartphone to the other player after each turn, so the game will only be accessible from your phone.
- With the other options, however, your opponents are remotely accessing the game from their devices.
- Wait for your game session to populate.
Step 3. Think of a word with the first six letters you received and place it in the center of the game board making sure that at least one letter covers the box with the star in the center
The numbers in the corners of each letter indicate how many points that letter is worth. The score scored in a round is the sum of all the values of the letters used to compose the word. The less common or more difficult it is to use a letter, the greater its value.
Step 4. Wait for your friends to finish their turn
They will have to connect their word to yours, horizontally or vertically, exactly as if they were doing crossword puzzles.
Step 5. After each round you will receive new letters at random so that you always have 7 letters
Place another word next to the other words on the table and try to score as many points as you can!
Method 2 of 2: From the computer
Step 1. Connect to your Facebook account and go up App Center.
You will find it by scrolling down the newsfeed menu on the left.
Step 2. On the left sidebar, search for "Words With Friends"
Step 3. Click on "Play Game" to start a new game
Install the app if you haven't already.
Step 4. Choose a Facebook friend or random player to start a WWF match
Words With Friends will try to suggest friends but you can always start a game with whoever you want. Click on the "Start a Game" button on the left. Wait for someone to come.
Step 5. Think of a word with the first six letters you received and place it in the center of the game board making sure that at least one letter covers the box with the star in the center
