Have you ever wondered how to add windshield cleaning fluid to your vehicle? Usually the liquids in your vehicle are checked when you do the service. If you find yourself cleaning your windshield frequently, it's best to add some liquid to your vehicle.
Steps
Step 1. Required items
Buy a quality windshield cleaning fluid at a car showroom and a funnel that you can find in supermarkets.
Step 2. Open the hood
Make sure the vehicle is turned off. Find the lever to open the hood and pull it. Run your hand under the hood to find the hook to release to fully open it. Use the side or center support stick to hold the hood in the open position. Open the liquid to clean the windshield and place it on the ground with the funnel in front of the vehicle.
Step 3. Locate the liquid container cap
Look for a cap with wipers drawn on it. It is located on the front of the engine. Open the cap and set it aside. If the cap has a leash, move it away from the opening.
Step 4. Add windshield cleaning fluid
Find the high limit line below the top of the opening. If you're using a funnel, put it inside the opening. Pour the liquid into the container by filling it to the maximum limit line. If you are not using a funnel, carefully pour the liquid into the opening until it reaches the limit line.
Step 5. Put the cap back in place
Remove the funnel. Place the cap over the opening and press it down until it clicks into place.
Step 6. Close the hood
Hold the hood with one hand while removing the support stick with the other. Lower the hood and release it by moving your hands away to avoid hurting yourself.
Step 7. Clean
Put the cap back into the windshield cleaning fluid bottle and rinse the funnel.
Advice
- When you fill the liquid container, clean the edges of the wiper blades with the liquid itself. You will make cleaning your windshield more effective.
- Use a good quality liquid for best results and to keep it from freezing in very cold weather.
Warnings
- Do not fill the liquid container with antifreeze for the engine or with a solution of water and vinegar.
- Always turn off the engine before checking fluids. Use extreme caution when working on the engine to avoid injuring your arms and hands.
