The Joker is one of the most mysterious and intriguing villains in the Batman saga. Follow these strolls to capture her appearance for occasions like Halloween and costume parties.
Steps
Step 1. Wear clothing in its distinctive colors:
purple and green. While dresses in this color aren't very common, they are more than available in party stores and online. If you don't find anything useful in local stores, try amazon.it (or similar sites) by looking in the 'Clothing' category, where you can select items in specific colors, such as green and purple. In most cases, the Joker's shirt, jacket, gloves and pants are purple; the waistcoat and sometimes the tie are green.
Step 2. Wear accessories of other colors, such as brown
The Joker's tie is brown (or sometimes olive green), as are his shoes. Any brown tie and plain loafers will work well with your costume, however if you really want it to be perfect, consider watching the movie or photos taken from the film with particular attention to the wardrobe.
Step 3. Dye your hair green
It is a simple effect to achieve. During the Halloween period, supermarkets and other similar stores have a large assortment of washable colored lacquers in various colors, including green. Usually, a can costs between 2 and 5 euros.
Step 4. Use a knife as a weapon
The Joker carries a knife with him to torture his victims and tells different stories each time he points it at the victims' faces. It is not recommended to carry around a real knife, but you will find a variety of toy guns at party stores and online. Fake weapons are also sold in children's toy stores.
Step 5. The Joker's makeup is one of the most important aspects of his costume
Face painting, or "war paint", as it is called in the "Dark Knight", not only hides the Joker's true identity but reinforces the image that Gotham citizens have of him. Imitations of her make-up are easy to create. First, get the following items: white greasepaint, black greasepaint, liquid eyeshadow or eyeliner, red greasepaint, or lipstick. Cover your face in white greasepaint from your forehead to below your chin, also covering your ears. To follow Heath Ledger's costume, blend some black greasepaint, liquid eyeliner or plenty of dark eyeshadow on the lids. There is no need to be precise with lines and edges, as long as your lids are completely covered and the edges are blended it will be fine. For the lips, coat them in red lipstick, creating a thick, imprecise line on each cheek, about three centimeters long beyond the corners of the mouth. The line should curve like the Joker's evil smile and fade a little to white. To get the right look, draw the lines on the cheeks and blend them a little with your fingers. Instead, if you want to look more like Jack Nicholson's Joker, lightly apply liquid black eyeliner over your eyes. Do not let it fall into the inner edge of the eyelid, keep the line very thin on the outside of the eyelid. Then, cover the area of your mouth with the red lipstick and, very carefully, extend the lines out to recreate the shape of very thin lips. Don't just draw thin lines, extend the shape of your mouth to make it seem like the corners are further away and your lips are thinner. If you have lips that are normally already thin, it will be easier to get the right effect and you will only have to space out the corners of the lips with the red lipstick.
Step 6. Both Jokers appear to have yellow teeth
You will find that when you put on white greasepaint, your teeth will naturally appear more yellow compared to a bright white.
Advice
- Make sure your lipstick is hard and rough. Swipe it over your lips and smile three times to make sure it holds.
- Try the phrase "Why are you so serious?" (Why so serious in the original version) a couple of times, just to get used to it. You may surprise yourself (and others).
- The Joker carried around "joker" cards from French card decks. If you want, carry one in your dress pocket.
- There is no need to spend a lot of money on this costume. If you or a relative find yourself one or more pieces needed for the costume, don't hesitate to use what you have.
- Though he has the scars of a smile, Heath Ledger's Joker doesn't smile nearly as much as Jack Nicholson's. Depending on what you are inspired by, you may want to show a serious and flabby expression, or a jovial but sinister one.
Warnings
- Test the products on a small part of your skin before applying them to your hair and face to avoid large scale allergic reactions.
- Don't carry around a real knife. Bad idea.
