Each of us has our own little secrets, and we want no one to know them; at the same time, however, it is difficult to keep your mouth shut and not be able to confide in anyone. Writing your secrets in a journal can help you solve this problem.
Steps
Step 1. Go to a stationery or school supplies store
Step 2. Find a notebook or diary large enough to write in it for a long time
Make sure it has enough pages, and choose a color that reflects your personality.
Step 3. Decorate it
Take your pens and pencils and decorate the cover of your notebook or diary; let your personality be free to show itself!
Step 4. Write some information about yourself on the first page:
your age, your school, and even some of your hobbies, pets, or best friends.
Step 5. Make sketches and drawings, and glue cards, photos or even candy cards
That way, when you reread it years later, it will evoke many more memories.
Step 6. Write down each day, the date, time, where you are, who you are with, etc
Step 7. Every day when you're done writing, hide your diary
Don't keep it in predictable places like your sock drawer or under your pillow, because those nosy sisters, brothers and parents will go snooping right there. Instead, hide it in places like a hollow book or an old dusty jacket.
Step 8. If you don't feel like writing someday, don't
Forcing yourself to keep a journal is no fun. Write only when you feel like it. That way it will become natural, and you won't have to remind yourself every time that you have to.
Advice
- A diary has always been a good method to pour out secrets and to externalize emotions, and, moreover, it helps to have a clearer view of things. A few years later, it will be fun to see how your thinking has changed. Furthermore, by rereading over time what you have written about the people around you, you will be able to understand them better.
- Remember that you write it just for you, so no one else should peek inside!
- Write as if you were talking to your best friend or to yourself, so for those who read it, it will appear that you are talking about someone else.
- Try to get a diary with a lock and key, with a security code, or with any other kind of protection.
Warnings
- Writing "My diary" or "Top-Secret" on the cover only serves to attract attention; therefore, do not do this if you want no one to read your diary.
- If you have unwanted guests, make sure you have hidden the diary in a secret place, and don't leave anyone alone in your room.
- It is not mandatory to keep a diary. Some people do this to express complicated feelings and ideas. If you have another way to express these feelings, don't feel pressured to keep a journal.
- Don't take it to school! The chances of it falling out of your backpack and someone reading it are high!
