Steps
Part 1 of 3: Conceiving Ideas for the Song
Step 1. Make a list of words you associate with the girl you are writing the song for
They can be simple and general words, such as "beautiful", "special" and "unique", or more descriptive and specific, such as "blackberry", "intelligent" and "brave".
- This list will help you brainstorm to create the lyrics for the song. So don't worry too much about turning words into text. The idea is to start building the vocabulary and jargon that you will use in the song.

Step 1. Use a simple structure
The simplest of a contemporary song is: verse / chorus / verse / chorus / bridge / chorus. Most listeners like this model because it's made catchy by repetition, but it's varied enough to be engaging and interesting.
- A verse of a song has the same melody but different words. The verse depicts the image of a scene, a situation, an emotion and / or the protagonists of the song.
- The chorus usually appears three or four times in the song, depending on how long it is, the lyrics and melody remain the same each time. The lyrics of the chorus should summarize the heart of the song or the overall message, and should also contain the title of the song.
- The bridge has different melody, lyrics and chord sequence from verse and chorus. Provides a break from the repetition of verses and chorus. The bridge text usually gives an introspective look or a thoughtful moment. It can also add or expand an idea or thought from the verse or chorus.
Step 2. Try to answer the most important question or say the main idea of the song in the chorus

- For example, in the famous Bruno Mars song “Treasure”, the singer focuses on how special and how much a “treasure” the girl is to him. Step 3. Make at least one direct statement in the chorus about what the song is about

- For example, the first verse of Mars in "Treasure" is "Give me all, give me all, give me all your attention baby / I got to tell you a little something about yourself / You're wonderful, flawless oh you're sexy lady / But you walk around here like you wanna be someone else " walking around like you want to be someone else).
- In this verse Mars starts the conversation with the girl by asking her to pay attention to him because he has something to tell her. He then goes on to tell her that she is "wonderful", "perfect" and "sexy", but points out that she does not seem to notice her worth ("as if I wanted to be someone else"). Therefore this verse is connected to the idea of keeping it as a treasure, or seeing its value and appreciating it. It is a good introduction to the main idea of the song and makes the listener understand what awaits him.
Step 5. Sing your lyrics aloud to find the melody
To create a good melody, you need the right tone, phrasing and rhythm. As you speak, you are probably already unfolding all of these elements. But in a song they are amplified and there are more repetitions. So singing the lyrics will help you find a suitable melody for the song.
- Use the melodic elements of the speech to give your songs a greater emotional impact. Changing the tone of your voice so that it rises at the end of a question or flattens out when you make a sarcastic remark will add emotions to the song.
