Finding out if your contact has blocked you or not can be a bit inconvenient process. If you think this is your case and you absolutely need to verify it, you can do so by phoning the contact in question several times and hear how the call ends. Keep in mind that if you realize you've been blocked and keep trying to call, you could be reported for harassment.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Find Out If You Have Been Blocked
Step 1. Call the contact you suspect has blocked you
You won't be able to find out just by texting him, so you'll have to call him.
Step 2. Listen to how the call ends
If it ends after a ring (or, in some cases, half a ring) and you are redirected to the voicemail, it may mean that you have been blocked, or the contact has the phone turned off.
- Depending on your carrier, you may hear a message saying the contact you are trying to call is unreachable. It could mean that you have been blocked.
- Obviously, if the person answers the phone, you are not blocked.
Step 3. Call him again for confirmation
Sometimes it can happen that a call is directed to the answering machine even if the phone is free and you have not been blocked; calling a second time you will be sure.
If the call ends again after one or a half ring and the answering machine goes off, it means that the contact has blocked you, or that the phone is turned off
Step 4. Call with the hidden number
You can do this by typing # 31 # before the number (or * 67 # if calling from a landline). While someone cannot be expected to answer an anonymous call, this will check the other person's phone status:
- If it rings more times than before, then it has blocked your number.
- If the call ends again after one or a half ring and the answering machine is activated, then the phone is turned off.
Step 5. Ask a friend to call
If you think you've been blocked but want verbal confirmation, you can ask a friend to call the contact and ask for an explanation. Remember that, as tempting as it may be, it could damage the relationship between your friend and the person who blocked you.
Method 2 of 2: Bypassing a Block
Step 1. Understand the potential consequences
If you've been blocked by mistake, the person probably won't mind hearing from you. However, trying to circumvent a block that was made on purpose could be considered harassment. Be aware of the consequences your actions may have before proceeding.
Step 2. Hide your phone number
You can do this by typing # 31 # (or * 67 #) before the number you want to call; in this way the call will be anonymous.
Most people don't answer calls from unknown or anonymous numbers; this is because many call centers use this method to reach numbers on the non-contactability list
Step 3. Send him a message using another platform
If you both have Facebook, you can use Messenger. Similarly you could use Whatsapp, Viber, Skype or any other similar service.
Step 4. Leave a message on the answering machine
The contact will not receive any notification of your call, but the message will remain on their phone. You can use this loophole if you need to communicate something important to him.
Step 5. Try to make contact via your social media profile
If you absolutely must talk to someone who has blocked you, you can send them an email or a message via various social accounts. Again, consider what kind of urgency you have: If you are simply angry that you have been blocked, it is best to let your anger cool off until both of you have calmed down a bit.
