If you think the cat always uses the litter box… you've never had a cat. For every cat who uses it properly even when home is a battlefield, there is another that prefers the new leather sofa instead of that nice fresh and scented litter box you made for him.

Part 1 of 3: Understanding Cat Motivations
Step 1. Find out what causes the cat to avoid his box
Cats don't like changes or being disturbed. Move the litter box, change the type or even the level of lighting and silence of the place where it is, etc. they can contribute to disturbing him. Another reason that leads the cat to empty itself elsewhere is fear. Failure to clean the litter box regularly is an encouragement to go to the toilet elsewhere in the house: cats are boring and don't like a 'dirty bathroom' - but who does? Part 2 of 3: Making the Cassette More Attractive
Step 1. Change the litter box regularly
Keep it clean. This means cleaning it every day. If you miss a day, you risk your cat changing bathroom.
Step 2. If you need to, replace the cassette step by step
If you change the contents of the litter box, do so gradually, mixing one part again with the old one and slowly increasing the new one with each change. The cat will thus be able to get used to the new agglomeration and will be less inclined to empty itself elsewhere.
Step 3. Eliminate any source of disturbance
If your cat is bombarded with loud noises or lights, try to reduce this effect or move the litter box where it is not affected. Cats like to use the bathroom in peace and these distractions can throw them off. Another problem can be other animals, such as a bullying old cat, a barking puppy dog, a hissing animal, etc. Dogs in particular should not have access to the area where the cat has the litter box, unless you are mathematically certain that the two get along perfectly.
Step 4. Leave the cat alone
Don't bother him if he's using the cassette. This includes keeping out onlookers and children who may be too loud, pulling their tails or jumping after them shouting. All these examples are stressful for the cat, not to mention that it is unhygienic for children to play near the litter box. Tell the little ones that the cat needs space and privacy just like everyone else. If the box is open and you have small kittens, get a blanket so the clump won't spread all over the place.
Step 5. Buy the suitable cassette
More cats equals more litter boxes. If you don't do this you will trigger the problem as cats are boring creatures and do not appreciate using a cassette that has already been used. A kitty box plus a spare is the solution if you have multiple cats.
Step 6. Encourage an indoor / outdoor bathing routine
If your cat is also outside, encourage him to go to the toilet outside. Once the cat spends more time outside, it will become natural to him as he will prefer the serenity of nature (at least so it is believed) to the plastic box. In any case, keep the litter box indoors for when it rains, snows, will be cold, etc. and make sure it's clean. Step 7. Remove what may be attractive to the cat
Put away the piles of newspapers, piles of clothes and other jammed items. Especially kittens will be very attracted to it. Part 3 of 3: Finding Out What Is Bothering the Cat
Step 1. Age problems
Kittens and older ones may have more trouble sticking to the litter box. Kittens can swap certain items for the litter box or find other materials to use as a toilet, such as piles of newspapers or wrapping paper. Older cats simply may not make it to the box in time. The answer in both cases is to keep the litter boxes close to where the cat is most active. If you have a large house, keep multiple tapes lying around.
Step 2. Eating problems
A change in diet can lead to diarrhea and other intestinal problems, which can cause the cat to use a different seat than the litter box. Always introduce new foods very slowly to give the cat time to get used to it.
