You finally have your nice ear piercing, now what? How to take care of it?
Steps
Step 1. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap
Always repeat this process before touching the affected ear.
Step 2. Clean your ear 2-3 times a day with antibacterial soap and water
Step 3. Turn the earring
Run him half a turn about three times a day. If you do it yourself, make sure you have sterilized the needle properly as you could get an infection.
Step 4. Remove the earring
After about six weeks (1 month and a half), remove the earring and look at your new piercing. (But don't leave it without an earring for too long because it risks closing, depending on how long it takes your body to heal the wound). Piercings have different healing times. For example, cartilage piercings take 4 months instead of 2! So be careful not to leave it uncovered for long.
Advice
- Beware of dangling earrings, do not use them until the piercing is completely healed.
- When cleaning different piercings, use a new cotton ball for each to prevent the spread of germs or infections.
- Touch the ear the bare minimum. Your hands are the main carrier for germs!
- Before you start wearing dangle earrings, even if nowadays they are made of light material, protect your earlobe with a plastic holder.
- Don't use guns like those found in some malls, rather go to a specialty shop where needles are used. A professional piercer can help you choose the proper style and size, and will work appropriately. To start, he will definitely give you a pack of sea salt. Sea salt is the best product for cleaning piercings! Remember that common salt is not appropriate and if you can mix it with distilled water (you can find it in grocery stores) and not with tap water.
- Change / wash your pillow regularly!
- Do not use alcohol to clean the ears.
- Wear sterile gloves when cleaning.
Warnings
- Make sure you clean your ears well, otherwise they risk getting infected.
- Do not remove the earring for too long, the hole risks closing.
- If your earlobe becomes infected (turns red or swollen / sore) see your doctor right away.
