If you have warts somewhere on your body, you are probably eager to get rid of them. Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), warts are unsightly and contagious. Fortunately, there is scientific evidence to suggest that it is possible to treat them easily at home with tea tree oil (also known as "tea tree oil"). By applying it regularly to warts you should be able to get rid of or at least shrink them.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Treating Warts on the Body
Step 1. Wash the wart-affected area and surrounding skin with warm, soapy water
Pat the area dry gently with a clean towel.
Step 2. Apply a drop of tea tree oil to the wart using a cotton swab
Use pure, undiluted oil.
Tea tree oil can cause contact dermatitis or skin irritation in some people. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to buy it already diluted or dilute the pure oil at home before use using aloe vera gel, honey or jojoba oil
Step 3. Put a patch on the wart
In this way the tea tree oil will remain in contact with the wart and will not risk staining clothes or sheets.
Step 4. Repeat the process twice a day
For convenience, you can apply tea tree oil on the wart in the morning upon waking up and in the evening before bedtime. After 3 days you should notice that its size has shrunk. Don't despair if the results are slow in coming, in some cases it can take up to 2 weeks to get the benefits.
Method 2 of 2: Treating Warts on the Face and Scalp
Step 1. Mix equal parts tea tree oil and aloe vera gel
You can buy aloe vera gel at a pharmacy or in well-stocked supermarkets. You don't need a specific type of gel. Mix well to combine the two ingredients.
The aloe vera gel does not act directly on warts, but thanks to its thick consistency it prevents tea tree oil from dripping onto the face
Step 2. Apply the mixture to the wart using a clean cotton swab
Use enough of it to completely cover the wart. If you don't want to leave the house with an oily face, treat the wart at night before bed.
Never apply tea tree oil on your lips or around your mouth as it is poisonous. If ingested, it can cause serious side effects, such as dizziness, vomiting, and confused mental state
Step 3. Put a patch on the wart to prevent tea tree oil from spreading onto the skin
In the morning, remove the patch and rinse your face to get rid of any remaining oil.
Step 4. Repeat the process once a day
It can take 12 days or more for the wart to disappear. If after 12 days you still have not seen visible results, consult your pharmacist or doctor for a recommendation for a specific product for warts or to have it removed.
Step 5. Blend 5 drops of tea tree oil with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of a carrier oil of your choice
The most common options include almond oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. Mix the two oils thoroughly.
There is no evidence that carrier oils can cure warts. Combining them with tea tree oil serves more than anything else to facilitate its application and to make it less aggressive towards the scalp
Step 6. Apply the mixture to the scalp where the wart is present
Apply it before going to sleep using your fingers or a cotton swab.
Step 7. Massage the mixture on the wart for a few minutes
Make sure it is completely covered in the oil.
Step 8. Leave the diluted tea tree oil on until the next morning
It is best to wear a night cap to avoid staining the pillow case. The next day, rinse your hair in the shower to remove residual oil from your scalp.
Step 9. Repeat the process until the wart is gone
It can take 12 days or more. If after 12 days it has not shrunk, consult your pharmacist or doctor for a recommendation for a specific product for warts or to have it removed.
