Clarisonic is a very effective tool for having perfectly clean, healthy and radiant skin. However, since it comes into contact with dirt, sebum and bacteria on the face on a daily basis, keeping it clean is a very important factor in taking care of the skin. Being waterproof, the handle and the outside can be cleaned easily. However, it can be difficult to completely remove traces of dirt from the brush. If classic soapy water doesn't work, try using baking soda and hydrogen peroxide or vinegar to sanitize it more effectively. Remember, however, that the brush should be replaced regularly, no matter how hard you work to keep it clean.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Wash the Handle
Step 1. Remove the brush
Separating the brush from the handle tends to make cleaning the Clarisonic easier. Firmly grasp the brush and push it in. Then, turn it counterclockwise and gently detach it from the handle. Set it aside.
To prevent the spread of dirt, germs or bacteria, lay the brush on a table with the bristles facing up after detaching it from the handle
Step 2. Wet the handle with warm water
The Clarisonic's handle is water resistant, so you can wash it to start the cleaning process. Open the hot water tap and wet the handle.
Avoid getting too much water into the inside of the handle, which is where the brush clicks shut
Step 3. Pour some soap on the handle and massage it
Wet the handle, squeeze out some liquid dish soap. Gently massage it with clean fingers, creating a full-bodied foam over the entire surface to remove dirt and germs.
The Clarisonic handle can also be washed with a facial cleanser
Step 4. Rinse the handle
After massaging the soap all over the handle to sanitize it, open the hot water tap again. Rinse it off to get rid of all soap residue and complete the cleaning process.
Step 5. Blot the handle with a towel
After rinsing, shake the handle a couple of times to get rid of excess water. Then, take a clean towel and dab it carefully on the handle. Set it aside until it's time to reattach the brush.
- It is recommended to wash the Clarisonic handle at least once a week to remove all buildup and dirt residue.
- Make sure you get rid of excess water from the inside of the brush as well. You may also want to blot the area where the brush clicks shut using a small towel or cotton pad to make sure you remove the water completely.
Method 2 of 4: Wash the Brush with Soap and Water
Step 1. Rinse the brush with warm water
Once detached from the Clarisonic handle, open the hot water tap. Let it run over the bristles until they are completely wet.
You can also clean the brush immediately after using the Clarisonic, as the bristles are still wet
Step 2. Pour soap over the bristles
Wet the brush, apply a small amount of liquid dish soap to the bristles. You can also use a hand soap or facial cleanser if you want.
Since the bristles are made of non-porous nylon, designed so that it does not favor the proliferation of germs or bacteria, it is not necessary to use an antibacterial soap
Step 3. Massage the soap onto the bristles
Once you have applied the detergent to the brush, massage the bristles back and forth with your fingers or the palm of your hand, in order to promote the formation of foam. The soap should be massaged into the brush for 30 or 60 seconds to clean it thoroughly.
If the brush looks particularly dirty, it is recommended that you use a clean toothbrush to massage the soap onto the bristles and brush surface
Step 4. Wet the brush
Once you have a full-bodied foam, open the tap again. Rinse the brush with warm water to remove all dirt, oil and soap residue.
Step 5. Leave the brush to air dry
Once washed, let it dry. You can reattach it to the handle and let it dry this way or lay it on a towel by itself to complete the process.
- You can close the brush with the special cap even during drying. Since the lid is pierced to allow the brush to take in air, you can also dry it this way.
- You should detach and thoroughly wash the brush at least once a week. Either way, be sure to rinse it well after each use.
- While performing proper cleaning, the Clarisonic brush should be replaced every 3 months.
Method 3 of 4: Wash the Brush with Sodium Bicarbonate and Hydrogen Peroxide
Step 1. Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
In a small bowl, pour 2 parts of baking soda and 1 parts of hydrogen peroxide. Mix well until it forms a paste with a consistency similar to yogurt.
- If the mixture is too dry, add more hydrogen peroxide.
- If it's too runny, add more baking soda.
Step 2. Add some lemon juice
Once you have the right consistency, cut 2 or 3 lemon slices. Squeeze the juice into the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste, then mix well.
It is normal for the mixture to bubble as soon as the lemon juice is added
Step 3. Let the brush roll in the mixture for one minute
With the brush attached to the handle, turn on the Clarisonic. Let the brush rotate in the baking soda solution and base, hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice for 30-60 seconds to evenly coat the bristles.
If you prefer to avoid turning on the device while cleaning the bristles, you can remove the brush from the handle and dip it into the mixture. Rotate it inside for 30 seconds, then massage it into your palm to allow the solution to penetrate well into the bristles
Step 4. Rub the brush on a towel
After letting the brush roll in the paste for about 1 minute, remove it. Turn it on and let it roll on a clean towel for another 1 to 2 minutes to completely dissolve any dirt and other residues.
Dirt residue could stain your towel, so make sure you use an old one that you can get dirty without any problems
Step 5. Rinse the brush
While the brush continues to rotate, open the hot water tap and let it run over the device to remove all residual dirt and detergent.
Step 6. Repeat this process until the brush is completely clean and let it air dry
If it is particularly dirty, it may be necessary to repeat the entire procedure one more time. Once you have obtained a satisfactory result, place it on a flat surface covering it with the special cap to allow it to dry completely.
The mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can be used once a week to clean the brush. Alternatively, use it when the bristles appear particularly dirty
Method 4 of 4: Wash the Device with Vinegar and Soap
Step 1. Mix vinegar, dish soap, essential oils and water
In a small bowl or jar, pour 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of liquid dish detergent, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of vinegar, 3 drops of essential oils with antifungal properties of your choice, and enough hot water to make a mixture. deep enough to dip the brush into. Mix the ingredients well.
- You can use white or apple vinegar to make the cleanser.
- Here are some essential oils with antifungal properties that you could use to make the cleanser: lemon, lavender, thyme, oregano, tea tree, geranium, chamomile, and cedar wood. Lemon essential oil is also effective in whitening the bristles of the brush.
Step 2. Dip the brush into the mixture and let it soak
Once the cleaner has been prepared, insert the Clarisonic inside, with the bristles facing down. Leave it to soak for about 30 minutes for the product to perform its function.
You can detach the brush from the handle or soak the entire device. Just make sure the bristles are facing down
Step 3. Massage the entire brush
After 30 minutes, remove the brush from the mixture. Massage both this area and the handle with a cloth or toothbrush to remove any remaining dirt.
Step 4. Rinse the brush and pat it dry with a towel
After brushing the entire device well, turn on the hot water tap. Let it run over the Clarisonic to remove dirt and detergent residue. Dab it with a clean towel so it will be ready for the next use.
While using a towel, you should also let it air dry for a few hours before using it again
Advice
- Although the Clarisonic should be rinsed well after each use, be sure to thoroughly clean the brush and handle at least once a week.
- If you want the brush to dry quickly, turn on the Clarisonic and let it rotate for about a minute.
