If your skin has dark spots or pigmentation changes, you may have made the decision to lighten these areas. Hydrogen peroxide - or hydrogen peroxide - is a natural bleaching agent, generally safe to apply to the skin for short periods of time. If you want to lighten your entire face, try making a mask to use once a week. If, on the other hand, you have dark spots or scars, pat it directly on the areas to be lightened. In case you have dark areas on your body, make a paste by mixing hydrogen peroxide with a mild soap, then spread it over your skin.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make a Face Mask
Step 1. Pour flour, milk, and 3% hydrogen peroxide into a plastic bowl
Measure 2 and a half tablespoons (20 g) of flour, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of milk and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide, which you can buy at the pharmacy. As you measure the ingredients, pour them into a plastic container.
- Try to measure the ingredients as exactly as possible. Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful whitening agent and could irritate the skin if not balanced with milk and flour.
- Milk moisturizes the skin and can remove dead cells thanks to its exfoliating action, regenerating the skin.
Step 2. Mix the ingredients with a plastic spoon or wooden spatula until you get a paste
Use a plastic spoon or wooden spatula, as these materials do not react with hydrogen peroxide. Gently mix the ingredients to get a homogeneous mixture. Continue to mix them until you have a paste with a uniform consistency.
- Do not use a metal spoon which in contact with hydrogen peroxide could cause a chemical reaction.
- The paste will likely be quite thick, but that's not a problem. The next step will allow you to dilute it.
Step 3. Add enough water to obtain a fluid enough paste that you can apply to your face as if it were a normal mask
Pour a few drops of warm water over the pasta, then mix everything to make it blend with the other ingredients. Continue adding a few drops of water at a time until the paste has reached an optimal consistency for application.
The paste must be fluid enough to facilitate an easy and smooth application on the face. However, it doesn't have to be so liquid that it runs off or prevents you from applying it evenly
Step 4. Apply the mask on your face with the help of your fingers or a brush
If you are looking for a simple option, spread the mask over your face with your fingers. If you have a face brush, use it to apply the mixture. Once you've applied the mask, wash your brush or hands with a mild soap and warm water.
Try not to get it on your eyebrows or hairline, as hydrogen peroxide could bleach hair and hair! If it gets on your hair, wash it off immediately
Step 5. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes or until it dries
Set a timer for 10 minutes and relax while the mask does its job. Touch your face with your finger every 2 to 3 minutes to see if it has dried. If it dries out before 10 minutes have passed, rinse it off.
- Once the mask has dried, leaving it on for longer may dry out the skin.
- If you feel like the mask has dried too quickly, add more water when you repeat the treatment. This will help keep it moist for longer.
Attention:
if the skin becomes irritated or has a burning sensation, rinse the mask immediately to eliminate it completely.
Step 6. Rinse the mask off with warm water
Splash water on the mask to soften it. Then, remove it by doing a gentle massage with your fingers. Once you get rid of it, finish washing your face with water to make it perfectly clean.
Do not rub the skin, as it could irritate it
Step 7. Blot your face with a clean towel
Gently pat your face with a towel to absorb excess water. Be careful not to rub it, as this could irritate the skin.
If residues of the mask remain on your face, you risk staining the towel. Make sure you rinse your face thoroughly before drying it
Step 8. Use the mask once a week to lighten the skin over time
You may see results after just one use. However, it is likely that you will need to do weekly treatments for a month or more in order to achieve the desired result. Repeat the treatment once a week until the skin has begun to appear visibly lighter.
Stop the treatment if your skin becomes red or irritated
Method 2 of 3: Treating Blemishes and Pigmentation Changes on the Face
Step 1. Dip a soft cotton swab into 3% hydrogen peroxide
Use regular 3% hydrogen peroxide, which is available over the counter and is usually used to treat wounds. Soak a cotton swab, which you will need to use to apply the product to the skin.
Use a small cotton swab to prevent hydrogen peroxide from reaching areas of your skin that are in good condition
Advise:
it is best to test hydrogen peroxide on a limited area before making a more extensive application on the area you want to treat. For example, tap it on a small spot on the jaw or on a speck. Then, let it sit for up to 10 minutes to see if it causes any skin irritation. If it irritates your skin, rinse it off immediately.
Step 2. Dab hydrogen peroxide on the stain area
Press the cotton swab on the area you want to lighten. Coat the affected area with hydrogen peroxide. Try to touch only the skin you intend to treat, avoiding the surrounding area.
If the hydrogen peroxide ends up on skin areas that are in good condition, it will lighten them and the skin will therefore continue to present an uneven color
Step 3. Leave the hydrogen peroxide on for 10 minutes
Set a timer for 10 minutes and relax while the product works. Hydrogen peroxide may dry out on the skin, which is normal.
If you start to feel a burning or itching sensation, rinse your face immediately
Step 4. Rinse your face with warm water
Wet your face with warm water. Then, using your fingers, apply the water directly to the area you treated with hydrogen peroxide. Wash the affected area several times to completely eliminate hydrogen peroxide.
Do not leave hydrogen peroxide on the skin, as it may cause burning or irritation
Step 5. Blot your face with a clean towel
Use a clean towel to avoid soiling your skin and blocking pores. Gently pat your face to remove excess water. Do not rub it, otherwise you will damage the skin.
If there is hydrogen peroxide left on your face, consider that it may stain the towel
Step 6. Repeat the treatment once a week until the desired result is achieved
You may notice results after just one treatment, but it generally takes several applications. Apply hydrogen peroxide once a week until the dark spots have faded.
- Stop using it if your skin becomes red or if you start to feel itching and burning.
- Do not apply hydrogen peroxide more than once a week, otherwise it could cause burning or skin irritation.
Method 3 of 3: Lighten Dark Skin Spots
Step 1. Grate 2 tablespoons (30g) of a mild bar of soap into a plastic container
Use a gentle, fragrance-free bar of soap to lighten the skin. Grate it until you get about 2 tablespoons (30 g) of soap fragments. Alternatively, cut it with a knife. Put the soap in a plastic container.
Minute chips can be mixed more easily with hydrogen peroxide
Advise:
this method is very effective for lightening dark spots on areas of the body such as knees, elbows or armpits.
Step 2. Pour 2 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the container
Measure the hydrogen peroxide with a spoon or measuring cup, then pour it into the plastic container you put the soap in. Some bubbles will probably form: this is completely normal.
You can also use a measuring jug to measure hydrogen peroxide. 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide is equivalent to about 30 ml
Step 3. Stir with a plastic spoon or wooden spatula to create a paste
Mix the soap and hydrogen peroxide using a plastic or wooden utensil. Keep stirring until you get a paste.
As you mix the ingredients, a lot of foam is likely to form, which is normal
Attention:
do not mix the ingredients with a metal spoon, as this material could trigger a chemical reaction in contact with hydrogen peroxide.
Step 4. Apply the paste to the dark spots using the spoon or spatula
Pick up a small amount of the paste using the plastic spoon or wooden spatula, then spread it over the dark spots. Apply a thin, even layer to the entire area you want to treat.
- For example, you could apply it to your knees or armpits.
- Make sure you don't apply it to the areas you don't want to lighten. Keep in mind that the paste will lighten all areas of the skin it comes into contact with.
Step 5. Leave the paste on for 10 minutes
Set a timer for 10 minutes and relax as the mixture works. Try to stay still, so that the skin does not experience any movement and does not bend during the procedure. The hydrogen peroxide will thus have all the time necessary to act.
Do not leave the paste on your face for more than 10 minutes, otherwise it could burn the skin
Attention:
if you start to feel a tingling or burning sensation, rinse the pasta off immediately. If you decide to use it again, leave it on for less time to avoid irritating your skin.
Step 6. Rinse the paste with warm water
Moisten the dough with warm water to soften it. Then, apply more water to the skin to help remove the compound. Use your fingers to remove it completely.
Try not to rub your skin, as this can irritate it. Proceed as gently as possible when rinsing the skin to remove the paste
Step 7. Repeat the treatment once a week until the skin is lightened
You may see results after just one treatment, but the effect is unlikely to be noteworthy. Continue to do the treatment once a week until you get a satisfactory result.
- If your skin becomes irritated, stop taking hydrogen peroxide treatments immediately.
- You will likely see significant results after 1 or 2 months.
