Gloss and lipstick can make your lips appear plumper, shiny and beautiful. They can increase the volume and make them appear larger if you have thin lips. Here you can find some steps to apply gloss or lipstick.
Steps
Step 1. Choose the perfect lip cosmetic for you
Do you want it brighter, clearer, colored, with some flavor or transparent? There are tons of types out there, so go shopping and find out what's on the market!
- Lipstick is usually more matte and consistent than a gloss.
- The gloss is usually transparent, or with a slight tint of color. Can be used as an additional layer on top of lipstick for added shine.
- Lip balm is generally transparent. It is used to protect lips from the sun and wind, and to soothe chapped or herpes lips.
- Lip dye is like an ink. It can have a strong color, but it helps to change the tone of the lips without it showing that you are using a color.
- Some categories can overlap. You can find lipsticks with sun protection, very consistent glosses etc.
Step 2. Try in-store lip cosmetics
Sometimes testers are available in stores. Apply it to your hand or a piece of paper provided by the store, but never directly to the lips.
Step 3. Choose a color that enhances your skin tone
Find the perfect shade by experimenting with different colors.
- Start with an understated color, just a few shades darker than your lip color.
- Avoid a "fiery red" color at first. A beginner's mistake is to go straight to the brightest red around as if to announce: "Here, I've put on lipstick!". Even if you look great with that color, you will notice any mistakes, blemishes or the thinnest smudge.
- If you have a sister with a lot of lipstick experience, find out her favorite shade. Sisters tend to look good with similar colors, thanks to the similar skin color. But don't use his tricks!
Step 4. Decide if you want to use the lip liner
Today's lipsticks are better than those of the past, so the pencil is no longer essential. For a beginner, this is usually an unnecessary step. If you want, use it in a natural color or match that of the lipstick.
Step 5. Apply lipstick first
Stretch your lips and start from the center, applying lipstick to the corners. Blot the lipstick with a tissue. Make sure the lipstick hasn't smudged beyond the lip line.
Step 6. You can also apply lip tint first if you want
Stretch your lips and apply the tint following a line from the center of each lip, top and bottom. Rub your lips and pat.
Step 7. Apply the gloss
Put it on the entire surface of the lips, or just in the center of each lip and rub the lips to create an even and light layer. Another option is to put it only in the center of the lower lip, to make the lips appear fuller.
Advice
- Keep your look understated. The first thing a person should notice about your appearance is you, not your makeup. Don't go overboard with your make-up.
- Wear red lipstick when you don't have too much eye makeup so it won't look excessive!
- All women can wear red lipstick, but make sure it looks good on you. Once you start exploring the lipsticks section, you will find that there is an infinite range of reds, with different brilliance, shades of blue, brown, gold, purple, orange and so on. You will certainly find the one that's right for you.
- Some long-lasting lipsticks can dry out your lips, so give your lips a quick swipe of moisturizing conditioner before applying the long-lasting lipstick.
- Always smile and be sure of yourself: your beauty will stand out even more.
- If you want your lips to look shiny but want a different color, use lip tint or lipstick with a clear gloss. Some colored glosses look fake if you put too much on.
- If your parents don't want you to use lipstick, ask them if you can use a gloss. You can find very beautiful colors and make you and your parents happy.
- Creamy lipsticks keep lips from drying out, many are made with ingredients that keep lips soft and help prevent the effects of aging.
- When using lip balm, make sure it's clean. You can also buy it with sunscreen if you are going to sunbathe.
- Try on the lipsticks in the shop, the staff can help you in choosing the color.
- Match the lipstick color with the clothes you wear for a more sophisticated look. For example, a pink lipstick to match a pink shirt or dress.
Warnings
- Don't use a lip liner that is darker than lipstick - it will have a horrible effect if the lipstick wears off.
- Don't share lip cosmetics. Germs that cause colds, flu, herpes and even worse can be spread!
- Pay attention to the choice of colored glosses - some look fake if you wear too much.
- Make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients used in the lipstick or gloss. Always check the ingredient list on the product packaging.
