No need to spend money on a blowgun, you can make one yourself in minutes. The first method describes how to build a large blowgun with a pipe (or PVC pipe) while the second method deals with building simpler, smaller blowguns made with a barrel. Whatever material you have available, in a short time you will have a real weapon. Start with the first step of the method you prefer.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Making a Blowpipe with a Pipe
Step 1. Get the material
- 1 meter of pipe with an internal thickness of 1.25 cm
- Nails with ringed shank
- Piece of paper (5x7.5cm)
- Scissors

If you don't have these things move on to the second method below
Step 2. Wrap the head of a nail in the piece of paper
Put it in a corner and wrap it up, it should form a cone. This is your dart. The tip of the cone is the center of the dart and gives it direction and speed.
- Once it is tight around the head, close it with the tape. The first piece of tape will need to wrap around nail and paper. A piece or two of tape will hold it in place and prevent it from falling apart.
- The heavier the dart, the more penetration it will have. So if you want, add more tape to make it heavier.
Step 3. Put the dart inside the tube to measure and cut
Don't worry, it doesn't have to go well at this point. You just have to put it inside up to the point where a line forms on the paper, where the tube ends. This tells you how long the dart must be.
Cut the paper at this mark. You will be left with a dart that fits perfectly into the empty tube
Step 4. Put the dart in the tube, aim and shoot
Done! Put the dart in the tube, take a deep breath and you will see that it will fly 15 meters. Try to see how powerful it is.
Make several darts to have ammunition always ready for use
Method 2 of 2: Make a Small Blowpipe
Step 1. Get the materials
- Small pieces of paper about 2, 5 - 7, 5 cm
- Tape
- Toothpick
- Scissors
- Cane
- A sharp pencil
Step 2. Wrap the paper around the end of a pencil
Start from the corner so that it forms a cone. Make it tight and aligned with the tip.
Once you have created the tip of the cone, close it with the tape. Don't worry even if it won't be perfect. You should have the edge of the paper sticking out of the tip
Step 3. Cut the tip of the cone
It will need to be about the size of the toothpick. To do this:
- Insert the tip of the toothpick into the cone.
- If you can't, make a small cut in the tip of the cone.
- Reinsert the tip of the toothpick. If it fits tightly, that's fine.
Step 4. Put the cone into the barrel
Most will remain outside. Place it tightly so that it forms a slight ripple where the edge of the barrel meets the paper.
Cut the rest of the cone where the ripple forms at the top of the barrel. This will leave you with a small cone that will fit on the tip of the toothpick giving it direction, speed and flight ability
Step 5. Tape the small cone to the end of the toothpick
You will need to have the end of the toothpick just outside. Make sure the tape is firmly attached to both the toothpick and the paper cone.
Step 6. Put the dart in the barrel and shoot
That's all. Take a deep breath, blow and shoot what you are aiming for. Try a fruit or a balloon, certainly not your brother or sister.
Step 7. Bring some extra darts
To add something, you can improvise a dart holster on the barrel. This way you can reload and fire quickly and easily. That's how:
- Cut pieces of cane about half the length of a dart.
- Put double-sided tape towards the end of the barrel.
- Put the cane pieces in a circle on the tape.
- Add some tape over the cane pieces to keep them in place.
- Insert the darts. They should be okay!
Advice
- You do the darts with metal because they will penetrate deeper, but anything works.
- There has to be a cone at the end or they won't fly.
- PVC pipes are an alternative.
