Steps
Step 1. Use the pencil to trace the schematic structure of the body
Draw an oval for the head and then use lines to define the rest of the body.
- You should make sure that the character is in an easy position to draw; remember to respect the proportions between the limbs and the head, so that this is not too big for the rest of the body.
- This schematic drawing is a kind of "skeleton" for the boy.
Step 2. Give the image some thickness
Add circles where the joints are and define the body with other lines; blacken the ones you want to use to start distinguishing outlines.
Step 3. Draw the face with strong strokes
You can decide to give the character the expression you like, but generally most of the anime-style guys have very defined and angular facial features, with the eyes very tilted towards the center of the face. Draw a horizontal line in the center of the face to determine the position of the eyes and a vertical line across the nose. In the related image you can find the example of a normal smile and a short, disheveled hairstyle.
- Just like you did for the body, darken the lines you want to keep for these details; add the saddle and the tip of the nose.
- Currently, anime-style boys are depicted with longer locks at the base of the neck.
Step 4. Draw the clothes
Since the figure is already complete, all you have to do is add the clothing you want. You can trace the collar of the shirt and outline the zipper of the pants; go over the final details of the clothes with darker lines.
Step 5. Use a fine-tipped (but well-defined) black pen to go over the edges
Remember to trace the smallest details, such as the pupils of the eyes; add hair shading to give volume and depth, also widen the shoulders a little to make the figure a little more masculine.
