Steps
Method 1 of 5: Make a Classic Sundae
Step 1. Take a small cup and pour 60ml of syrup into it
Chocolate syrup is very popular, but you can also choose another flavor, such as caramel, toffee or strawberry. If you have decided to use a non-fruit based syrup (such as caramel), heat it in the microwave for a few seconds to make it even richer and tastier.
For best results, use a sundae cup. However, a classic dessert bowl will also work
Step 2. Add 2 tablespoons of ice cream
To make the sundae, vanilla ice cream is usually used, but you can also choose other flavors, such as cookies or strawberry.
Step 3. Pour 60ml syrup over the ice cream
You can use the same as before or experiment with a different taste. Keep in mind that some flavors match each other better than others. For example, chocolate and caramel combine perfectly.
Step 4. Add the last spoonful of ice cream, the remaining syrup and the toppings you want
Chopped walnuts and sprinkles are typically used to garnish the sundae, but you can experiment with other ingredients as well. Here are some tasty ideas to get you started:
- Crushed biscuits;
- Crushed confectionery;
- M & M's, gummy bears, chocolate chips and other similar ingredients;
- Mini marshmallows;
- Other types of chopped nuts, such as peanuts, pecans, hazelnuts, cashews, etc.
Step 5. Garnish with a knob of whipped cream
You can make it at home and garnish the ice cream with a pastry bag or buy whipped cream spray.
Step 6. Garnish with a maraschino cherry
To create an even more elaborate effect, you can also add an ice cream waffle in the shape of a triangle or straw. If you don't have maraschino cherries, replace them with strawberries as well: the final result will be practically the same.
Step 7. Serve the sundae immediately
Eat it before it melts!
Method 2 of 5: Make a Milkshake Sundae
Step 1. Blend the ice cream, milk and vanilla extract
To make a smoothie sundae, replace the ice cream with ½ cup (120g) of plain yogurt.
Step 2. Blend the ingredients until smooth
If you find the smoothie too thick for your taste, add some milk. If it is excessively liquid, add more ice cream. Make sure you blend the ingredients every time you add new ones.
Step 3. Pour some chocolate syrup (a couple of spoonfuls) into the bottom of a tall glass
To make a more sophisticated dessert, pour the syrup on the sides of the glass. You can also use chocolate cream.
Step 4. Pour the smoothie into a tall glass
If you think you can't finish it, you can spread it between 2 glasses and share it with a friend.
Step 5. Garnish with a knob of whipped cream
You can use that spray or make it at home and spread it out with a pastry bag.
Step 6. Add a handful of sprinkles or chopped walnuts
You can also use other ingredients, such as shredded candy or crumbled cookies.
Step 7. Top the garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve
Put a straw in the smoothie and drink it before it melts. It is also recommended to serve it with a spoon with a long handle, useful for eating ingredients that do not go through the straw.
Method 3 of 5: Make Sundae Cupcake with Chocolate Cream
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C
Take 2 cupcake pans and line them with paper cups. Try to use a pan that has compartments about 6 cm deep.
Step 2. Prepare the batter following the instructions on the package
You will definitely need to add wet ingredients such as milk or water, oil and eggs. If you are using ready-made cupcakes, click here to find out how to garnish them.
Step 3. Pour the batter into the baking cups, filling them two-thirds full
Make sure the cups all contain the same amount of batter, then smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
Step 4. Top each cupcake with a spoonful of chocolate cream
It is not necessary to heat it: it should be at room temperature.
Step 5. Bake the cupcakes for 16-20 minutes
At this point, gently touch the top of the treats - if it bounces, then the cupcakes are ready.
Step 6. Let the cupcakes cool for 5 minutes, then remove the paper cups and wait for them to finish cooling
If you have ready-made cupcakes, you simply need to remove the wrapper.
Make sure the cupcakes are completely cold before adding the icing, otherwise it will melt
Step 7. Garnish the top of each cupcake with frosting
You can spread it out with a spatula. For a more sophisticated result, place the icing in a pastry bag with a star nozzle and squeeze it onto the cupcakes.
Step 8. Melt the chocolate chips and food fat over low heat in a saucepan
Put the chocolate chips and food fat in a saucepan, then heat them to low. Mix them with a rubber spatula until you get a homogeneous mixture. This way you can prepare the chocolate cream.
Step 9. Pour the chocolate cream over the whipped cream
You can help yourself with a spoon or a pastry bag with a fine tip nozzle.
Step 10. Sprinkle some chopped dried fruit or sprinkles over the cream
You can try using other toppings as well, such as candy or crumbled cookies. Keep in mind the size of the dessert. Being smaller than a classic sundae, larger toppings, such as mini marshmallows, are no good.
Step 11. Squeeze a dab of frosting on each cupcake, then top off the topping with a maraschino cherry
It is advisable to drain the cherries before the procedure and leave them in a colander, so that they are not soggy when placing them on the cupcakes.
Step 12. Serve the cupcakes
You can serve them in a dish. If you prefer a more sophisticated result, use a glass cup or a cup-shaped wafer. Aren't you going to eat them right away? Store them in the refrigerator.
Method 4 of 5: Prepare a Knickerbocker Glory Sundae
Step 1. Make a raspberry puree
Put 250 g of fresh raspberries in a food processor and add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Blend until smooth. Save any leftover raspberries.
- If you don't have a food processor, you can use a blender.
- If you don't have a lot of time, you can use a purchased strawberry syrup instead.
Step 2. Pour the raspberry puree into a bowl or small bowl and filter through a strainer
Collect the pulp from the mesh with a metal spoon to avoid wasting the puree. Set it aside and throw the remaining seeds into the colander.
Step 3. Spread the diced mango between 6 tall glasses
If you haven't already, peel the mango, then cut it in half and remove the pit. Cut it into cubes and distribute it between 6 tall glasses.
Use sundae cups for a more aesthetically pleasing result
Step 4. Stack half of the blueberries, ice cream, raspberry puree and whole raspberries into each bowl
Repeat this layering process one more time until all ingredients are finished.
If you can't find blueberries or raspberries, you can also use chopped fresh strawberries
Step 5. Garnish with a handful of chopped pistachios
This dessert can also be garnished with a dollop of whipped cream, sprinkles and a triangular shaped ice cream waffle.
Method 5 of 5: Make a Sundae with Yogurt and Fruit
Step 1. Beat the yogurt, honey and vanilla in a small bowl
Beat the ingredients until the yogurt is soft and light, mixing it evenly with the honey and vanilla.
Step 2. Mix the fruit in a separate bowl
While this recipe calls for bananas and strawberries, you can also use other types of fruit, including blackberries, raspberries, mangoes, and kiwis.
Step 3. Spread a quarter of the yogurt between 2 tall bowls or glasses
Save the remaining yogurt for subsequent layers.
Step 4. Add a quarter of the syrup, granola and fruit
Continue stacking the yogurt, syrup, granola, and fruit until you run out of ingredients. Finish the process with a thin layer of granola.
Step 5. If desired, top the sundae with whipped cream and syrup
You can also add chopped nuts or sprinkles. Complete the garnish with a strawberry.
Step 6. Serve the yogurt sundae
If you don't plan on eating it right away, you can cover it and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 hours.
