If you like the taste of guava juice, but prefer not to buy commercial drinks filled with artificial colors and sweeteners, making it at home is easy and inexpensive. You can opt for a simple variant (just have red or pink guava fruits, sugar and water) or more elaborate (which includes ginger, chili powder, lime juice and mint). Alternatively, try green guava juice, which uses honey and a generous amount of fresh lime.

Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make Simple Guava Juice
Step 1. Wash some red or pink guava fruits
Remove the peel with a vegetable peeler: although it can be left, it will make the juice thick and grainy. Chop the fruit until you get 165 g.
Fruit should be soft and free of spots or other imperfections
Step 2. Place the guava fruit in the jug of a blender or in the bowl of a food processor
Add 1 teaspoon (4 g) of sugar and 120 ml of cold water. Close the blender or food processor with the lid.
Sugar can be replaced with a low-calorie or natural sweetener
Step 3. Blend the mixture until you have a smooth, homogeneous drink
Do not blend it for too long, otherwise the seeds will be ground: this will make it difficult to remove and the juice will become grainy.
Step 4. Filter the juice
Attach a fine mesh strainer to a bowl. For an even smoother juice, coat it with cheesecloth. Transfer the mixture to the colander with a spoon, which you can also use to squeeze it.
The seeds that remain in the strainer can be thrown away
Step 5. Place ice cubes in 2 small glasses, pour in the filtered juice and serve immediately
Method 2 of 3: Make Fragrant and Spiced Guava Juice
Step 1. Wash some soft red or pink guava fruit
Peel them with a vegetable peeler. The peel can be left on, but remember that it will make the juice thick and grainy. Using a sharp knife, chop them carefully until you get about 500g of guava.
Step 2. Place the chopped fruit in the jug of a blender or in the bowl of a food processor
Blend them until smooth and pulpy. Place a fine mesh strainer on a bowl and transfer the mixture into it. Stir it to make it filter better.
The seeds that remain in the strainer can be thrown away
Step 3. Pour the strained guava juice into a cocktail shaker
Add a pinch of ground ginger, 40 g of sugar, a pinch of red pepper, a few drops of lime juice and a few leaves of fresh mint. Close the shaker and shake it for 10-20 seconds to mix the pulp with the aromas.
If you don't have a shaker, beat the ingredients in a bowl or measuring jug
Step 4. Place ice cubes in 2 glasses, half filling them with the guava mixture
Pour 250ml of cold filtered water into each glass. Mix the juice and water. Serve the drinks right away.
If you prefer a thicker juice, use less water
Method 3 of 3: Make Guava Lime Juice
Step 1. Wash 2 green guava fruits
Cut the fruit into cubes carefully using a sharp knife and place it in the jug of a blender or in the bowl of a food processor.
Step 2. Pour 120ml of water into the blender jar or food processor bowl
Blend the mixture until smooth. Do not blend it for too long, or the seeds will be ground, so they will be difficult to filter and the juice will become grainy.
Step 3. Place a fine mesh strainer on a bowl and pour the guava mixture into it with a spoon
Stir it to make the process easier. Throw the remaining seeds into the colander and pour some water over the filtered guava puree, diluting it to your liking.
For example, if you like thick juices, just add a little water. If you prefer a diluted juice, try adding 250-500ml of water
Step 4. Add the lime, honey and salt
Grate the lime zest into the guava juice. Squeeze a lime completely and use all the juice you made from it. Add 2 tablespoons of honey and a pinch of salt.
Step 5. Taste the guava juice and sweeten it to taste
Distribute it between 4 glasses and serve immediately.
