Caramel latte is a very popular tasty drink in cafes, but perhaps not everyone knows that it is possible to recreate it at home. Steps
Method 1 of 3: Prepare the Caramel Latte on the Fire
Step 1. Pour 500ml of milk into a saucepan and boil it over high heat for 3 minutes
Measure the milk with a measuring cup and pour it into a saucepan. Turn the heat to high and bring it to a boil. Let it boil, stirring it every so often, then remove it from the heat.
- It is important to stir it from time to time as this helps it to heat up evenly and prevents the risk of it boiling over.
- Use a deep non-stick pan to prevent milk from splashing and get better results.
Step 2. Add the caramel sauce, water and milk coffee, then mix
Add one ingredient at a time. Mix all the ingredients each time you add one. Keep stirring until you get a well blended mixture and a homogeneous brownish color.
Step 3. Taste the latte and add sugar if needed
Take a small amount of latte with a spoon to sip it. Before doing it blow it, because it will be hot. Add more sugar if you don't find it sweet enough. Stir in a teaspoon of sugar at a time, tasting the drink after each single addition.
Step 4. Whip the latte (optional)
Mix it vigorously with a whisk. Alternatively, pour the milk into a jar and shake it. Stir or shake it until a thick foam has formed and large bubbles appear on the surface.
You can also froth the milk with a milk frother or hand blender
Step 5. Garnish and serve the latte
Pour the drink into 2 clean cups. Using a spoon, place a knob of whipped cream on the latte immediately after pouring it, then drop a spoonful of caramel sauce on the cream. The toppings are absolutely optional: if you want, you can exclude them and drink the latte alone.
Method 2 of 3: Prepare Caramel Latte with an Espresso Machine
Step 1. Prepare 80ml of espresso with a coffee machine
Set the device and turn it on to get 80ml of coffee. The espresso machine can be replaced with a mocha. Alternatively, use a single-serve machine to make a cup of strong coffee or mix 1 teaspoon of soluble espresso with hot water. Pour the espresso into a cup.
- If you use an espresso machine to make 80ml of coffee, calculate 180-240ml of water.
- To make it stronger, increase the amount of ground coffee you use without changing the water. It may be necessary to experiment to achieve the desired intensity and flavor.
- Choose a standard size mug with 350ml capacity.
Step 2. Pour 60ml of caramel sauce into 250ml of milk and mix
Use a separate cup for this procedure. Stir constantly until the caramel dissolves in the milk. The caramel will have melted completely once the milk has taken on a uniform brown color, without streaks.
Step 3. Whip the milk into a 500ml jar with a lid
Pour the milk into the jar and fill it halfway. Close the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 30 to 60 seconds. The milk will be ready once large bubbles have formed and its volume has doubled thanks to the foam, filling the entire jar.
You can also froth the milk with a hand blender or milk frother
Step 4. Microwave the milk for about 30 seconds without covering it
Remove the lid from the jar before putting it in the oven. After 30 seconds a full-bodied foam will form on the surface.
Step 5. Add the milk to the espresso
Pour the milk into the same cup as the espresso, keeping the foam steady with a spoon. Pour it until you get the desired amount of latte. Stir with a spoon to get a homogeneous result.
Step 6. Using a spoon, place the remaining froth on the surface of the latte before serving
Pick up some foam with the spoon you used to hold it steady while you poured the milk. Arrange it on the surface of the latte by creating piles and add as many as you like. Pour some caramel sauce over the drink for garnish (optional).
Method 3 of 3: Make Frozen Caramel Latte
Step 1. Prepare the coffee with a mocha or an American coffee machine and let it cool overnight
Making coffee the night before and keeping it in the fridge overnight makes it easier to prepare the latte the next morning. If you don't want to refrigerate it, at least let it come to room temperature.
- The intensity of the coffee depends on your preferences.
- You can also use instant coffee.
- Are you short on time? Put the coffee in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Step 2. Mix the caramel sauce with 250ml of milk
Pour all the sauce you want into the milk, then mix with a spoon until you get a homogeneous mixture.
- Whip the mixture to make it smoother and creamier. Beat it with a whisk until the foam has come to the surface.
- You can also shake the milk in a jar or whip it with a hand blender.
Step 3. Pour the milk caramel mixture into the cold coffee
Stir the cold latte with a spoon until it has a homogeneous brown color. Add a handful of ice cubes before serving. Place a dollop of whipped cream on the top of the drink if desired. Pour some caramel sauce over the cream to garnish the latte.
Advice
- Make the caramel sauce at home so that the latte is even tastier.
- Use higher fat milk if you want richer, creamier latte.
