This article teaches you to remove zeroes at the beginning or end of a digit in Excel.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Remove Leading Zeros
Step 1. Highlight cells with leading zeros
If you want to work on the numbers of an entire column, highlight it by clicking on the corresponding letter in the column header.
Step 2. Right click on the highlighted cells
If the mouse does not have a right button, press the Ctrl key while left clicking. A menu will appear.
Step 3. Select Format Cells
The "Format Cells" dialog box will appear.
Step 4. Select Number from the left column
Step 5. Type a "0" (zero) in the "Decimal places" box
Step 6. Click OK
It is in the lower right corner of the dialog box. This action takes you back to your spreadsheet, where numbers will no longer have leading zeros.
If you still see zeros, double-click the cells, then press Enter
Method 2 of 2: Remove trailing zeros
Step 1. Highlight cells with trailing zeros
If you want to work on the numbers of an entire column, highlight it by clicking on the corresponding letter in the column header.
Step 2. Right click on the highlighted cells
If the mouse does not have a right button, press the Ctrl key while left clicking. A menu will appear.
Step 3. Select Format Cells
The "Format Cells" dialog box will appear.
Step 4. Select Custom from the left column
Step 5. Type a code in the box under "Type"
If there is already text, delete it. Then type the sequence 0. ### in the box.
Step 6. Click OK
At the bottom of the numbers you will no longer see zeroes.
