This article explains how to make your birthday on Facebook private.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using an iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open the Facebook app, depicted by a white F on a blue background
If you are not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password, then tap "Log in"
Step 2. Tap ☰, which is at the bottom right
Step 3. Tap your name
It should be at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Tap Information
It is located under the profile photo.
Step 5. Scroll down to the "Basic Information" section and tap Edit, the button located at the top right of the window
Step 6. Tap the icon depicting a human silhouette
It is located next to the date of birth.
Step 7. Tap More Options, located at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Step 8. Tap Just me
By selecting this option, only you will be able to see your date of birth on your profile.
Step 9. Scroll down and tap Save
It's at the bottom of the page. At this point the date of birth will have been hidden and your friends will not be able to see it when they visit the information section of your diary.
Method 2 of 3: Using Android
Step 1. Open the Facebook app, depicted by a white F on a blue background
If you are not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password, then tap "Log in"
Step 2. Tap ☰, located at the top right
Step 3. Tap your name
It is located at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Scroll down and tap Info
It is located under the profile photo.
Step 5. Tap More Info
The location of this tab may vary slightly, but it is located directly under your personal information at the top of the page.
Step 6. Scroll down to the "Basic Information" section and tap the Edit button, located at the top right of the window
Step 7. Tap the template next to your date of birth, on the right to be precise
Step 8. Tap More Options, which is at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Step 9. Tap Just me
By selecting this option, only you will be able to see your date of birth on your profile.
Step 10. Scroll down and tap Save at the bottom of the page
At this point the people who visit your profile will not be able to see your date of birth: only you will have the possibility.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Facebook Website
Step 1. Open Facebook
The News Feed will appear.
If you are not logged in, write your e-mail address and password at the top right and click "Log in"
Step 2. Click on your name tab, located at the top right
The tab also contains a thumbnail of the current profile photo
Step 3. Click on Information
This option is located to the right of the name at the top of the diary.
Step 4. Click on Contact and Basic Information, located on the side of the screen
Step 5. Scroll down until you find the "Basic Information" and hover over the "Date of birth" entry
The basic information section is located under the one called "Websites and Social Links". By hovering the mouse over the item, the "Edit" option will appear.
Step 6. Click Edit, to the right of the date of birth
Step 7. Click on the icon depicting a human silhouette, which is immediately next to the date of birth
Step 8. Click Only me
This option will hide the date of birth from the profile.
If you also want to hide the year of birth, you can do this directly under the day and month field
Step 9. Click Save Changes
The date of birth will no longer appear on the profile.
