This article explains how to add another phone number to the account associated with your Apple ID. This will allow you to use it for various applications, including messaging.
Steps
Step 1. Open the iPhone settings
The icon looks like a gray gear and is usually found on one of the main screens on your mobile.
If you can't find it, it might be in the Utilities folder
Step 2. Tap iCloud
This button is located at the top of the fourth section (along with "iTunes and App Store" and "Wallet and Apple Pay").
If you're not already signed in to iCloud, enter the username and password associated with your Apple ID when prompted
Step 3. Tap your Apple ID
It is the first button. It should include your name and primary email address.
You may be prompted to enter your Apple ID password
Step 4. Tap Contact Information
It is the first option in the second section.
Step 5. Tap Add email or phone number
It is the last option in the first section.
Step 6. Tap Phone number
Make sure the check mark is next to "Phone number" instead of "Email address"
Step 7. Tap Next
It is located at the top right.
Step 8. Enter the phone number you want to add to the account
Step 9. Tap Next at the top right
Step 10. Check your mobile for the verification code
The code will be sent to the mobile number you want to add to the account
Step 11. Enter the verification code
The new phone number will have been verified and will be added to your contact information.
- This will allow you to associate the number with your Apple ID, but it will not become the primary number.
- This step also allows you to associate the phone number with your iMessage account.
