This wikiHow teaches you how to change Android emojis to be iOS-style without rooting your phone or tablet. If you don't mind continuing to see Android emojis on your screen, you can install a third-party keyboard. However, if you want to see iOS-style emojis in every application, you will need to change the default font and replace it with one called "Emoji Font 3".
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Install the Emoji Keyboard
Step 1. Download the Emoji Keyboard from the Play Store
This app offers a keyboard with iOS-like emojis instead of the ones that come with the device. Although this app displays iOS emojis on the keyboard, you will still see Android emojis in conversations.
- This application was developed by Smart Technologies Apps. The icon depicts two keyboards side by side.
- The Emoji Keyboard is free, but it contains ads. You can remove them by paying.
Step 2. Open the Emoji Keyboard
Open the app drawer and tap the Emoji Keyboard icon, which looks like two keyboards sitting next to each other.
Step 3. Tap Turn on keyboard
This green button is located at the top of the screen and allows you to open the Android virtual keyboard settings.
Step 4. Swipe the "Emoji Keyboard" button to activate it
A message will appear to warn you that third-party keyboards may be able to collect all typed text.
This warning is given when installing any external keyboard
Step 5. Tap Ok to accept
This will reopen the screen that will allow you to configure the keyboard.
Step 6. Tap Activate the keyboard
A pop-up window will appear.
Step 7. Tap Emoji Keyboard
A list of languages will appear.
Step 8. Tap your preferred language to select it
Step 9. Tap Finish Installation
Step 10. Read the tutorial
The application offers a 7-page tutorial on how to use the keyboard. Tap "Next" at the bottom right to continue reading to the end.
Step 11. Test your new iOS emojis
Open an application that allows you to type, such as "Messages", and tap the text box to activate the keyboard. The keyboard in question will resemble that of an iOS device. Tap the smiley face next to the space bar to see the iOS emojis instead of the Android ones.
Method 2 of 2: Change the Default Font
Step 1. Make sure your mobile allows you to change the font
If your device allows you to install and use different fonts, you can change them so that all emojis displayed on Android are the same as on iOS. Here's how to check it:
-
April Settings
- Scroll down and tap Display.
- Scroll down and tap Font style. If you see this option, then you can change the font.
Step 2. Authorize downloads from unknown sources
The emoji font is not available on the Play Store, but you can safely download it elsewhere. Make this change and read the next step.
Step 3. Visit https://techonation.com/get-iphone-emojis-for-android-without-root using your device's browser
You can use Chrome or any other browser you want.
Step 4. Scroll down and tap Download
It is an oval blue button found in the section titled "Step 2". This way the font will be downloaded to your mobile.
You may need to follow other on-screen instructions to complete the download
Step 5. Open the APK file you downloaded
Drag down the Android notification bar, then tap the downloaded file to open it.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Don't worry - the file is safe
Step 6. Open the Android "Settings"
This app is located in the app drawer or in the notification bar.
Step 7. Scroll down and tap Display
Step 8. Scroll down and tap Font Style
A list of all fonts available on your device will appear.
Step 9. Select Emoji Font 3
The device will be updated so that everything is displayed with this font. This means that every time you see an emoji (even when you use the keyboard), it will resemble those on Apple phones and tablets.
Step 10. Disable installations from unknown sources
For security reasons, swipe the button to disable it.
Step 11. Try using the new emojis
Open an application that allows you to type and tap the typing area to bring up the keyboard. Switch to the emoji keyboard (usually to do this you need to touch the key represented by a smiley face) and you will see that the emojis will be in iOS style.
