This wikiHow teaches you how to change the default search engine on Safari using a Mac, iPhone or iPad.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Open the "Settings" app
It is usually found on the Home screen.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap on Safari
This option is located towards the center of the menu.
Step 3. Click on the Search Engine menu
It is the first option in the section titled "Search".
Step 4. Select the search engine you want to use
Choose from Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo or other available search engines. A blue check mark will appear next to the name of the selected search engine.
Method 2 of 2: macOS
Step 1. Open Safari on the Mac
The icon features a blue, red and white compass and is located in the Dock, usually located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2. Click on the Safari menu
It is located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Click on Preferences
The "Preferences" window will appear.
Step 4. Click the Search tab
The icon on this tab looks like a magnifying glass and is located at the top of the window.
Step 5. Click on the drop-down menu next to the "Search Engine" option
It is located at the top of the panel in the "Search" section.
Step 6. Select the search engine you prefer
Choose from Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo or any other search engine available. The change will be applied immediately.
