Sooner or later you will have to remove one or more tires. You will need to do this to fix a laundry or replace it with one in better condition. Therefore everyone should know how to remove nuts and tires safely.

Steps

ParkLevelSurface Step 1

Step 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface

So there is no danger of the car moving forward or backward.

Step 2. Loosen the nuts while the car is standing on the ground using a tire wrench

To unscrew them, turn the key anticlockwise. It is more difficult to loosen the nuts while using a jack by lifting the car, as the wheel may turn as you do so.

You may need to remove the nut caps. You can do this by unscrewing them or pushing them out. You will probably need to remove the car stud as well

If the tire is stuck, partially replace one of the nuts and tap it with a hammer to free the entire tire. Remove the nut and try to remove it

Advice

  • Some vehicles have "blocking" dice. To remove them it will take a hex wrench. They can be identified by the smooth external appearance instead of the normal hexagonal shape. There will also be a cavity on them for the key to be inserted into. If you can no longer find this key, you will need to take your car to a specialist.
  • Some people don't have enough strength to use a simple tire wrench. You can also use a ratchet wrench mechanical compass although some argue that this tool is awkward.
  • If you can't unscrew one of the nuts, tap the wrench with the hammer 1 or 2 times to loosen it. Be careful not to knock too many times to avoid damaging the mechanism.
  • Practice this procedure at home. You will need to evaluate your abilities and strengths before starting.

Warnings

  • Do not crawl under a jacked-up car. These tools can fail causing serious injury.
  • Always remove tires in a safe place. Sometimes it's better to call roadside assistance than risk getting hurt on a busy road.
