If you want to spice up your wardrobe a little more emo, read these tips to find the inspiration you're looking for.
Steps
Step 1. Start with the hair:
color them by contacting a professional and let one side of your hair or strands fall over your eyes. Most emo girls use hair dyes: the most common colors are black or platinum blonde. If you are afraid of such a radical change and you are curious, then you could use a temporary dye that usually lasts 4 to 6 weeks. There are many good brands for these products, try Manic Panic as well. You will also need hairspray and other similar products to recreate the style you seek. Remember it's your hair - make it unique. You can also mess up your locks a bit if you want.
Step 2. Find the right make-up:
to recreate a truly emo style, focus on the eyes. Use a thick line of eyeliner on the upper lid line and below the lash line at the base of the eye. Use an eyeshadow to create an even darker halo around the eye. You can use a foundation two or three times lighter than your natural skin tone but remember that a very pale face is a prerogative of those who choose the gothic style.
Step 3. Get a good assortment of clothes:
skinny pants and band t-shirts will need to be present in most of your clothing choices. Try to buy them directly from the websites of musical groups because this way the band will earn more. Some good clothing brands are Criminal Damage, Iron Fist, Hell Bunny, Green day, and Poison Industries. Hot Topic during the sales period makes the groups perceive lower receipts. The jeans can be purchased from Old Navy, Forever 21, Hot Topic, Pacsun, and Macy's. It's best to buy black or dark colored skinny jeans… and this applies to both girls and boys. When you are cold, you can wear black sweatshirts or sweatshirts from bands. If you live in places where it snows, padded jackets are especially appropriate.
Step 4. Choose the right shoes:
classic black or black and white Converse high tops always work. Black slip-on shoes or classic Vans are also good. You can search the wikiHows for guides on how to customize them: you can write sentences taken from the songs of your favorite bands or simply replace the laces with a more particular or phosphorescent pattern. Lately, the bravest emos have also started wearing colorful Nikes.
Step 5. Accessories:
hair ribbons, cuffs, gummy bracelets, black and white / silver studded belts, phosphorescent shoelaces, band pins, safety pins, brass knuckles, images of fake weapons …
Advice
- Dress this way to really express who you are and not to impress someone.
- Search the internet to find emo styles you like and modify them with your own personal touch.
- Don't hurt yourself just to fit into a label, you don't need to.
- You can be sad or depressed, but don't do it on purpose because you might be called an impostor - someone trying to be what they are not.
- Start gradually introducing different items into your wardrobe instead of completely changing your look overnight, such as over the course of a summer.
- Add pins and patches to your personal items so that anyone can see how much you love your music. The brightly colored cuffs also work well.
- If someone asks if you are emo say "I hate labels", or just deny it.
- It's okay to wear skinny jeans in light colors like white, gray or bright colors. But be careful with these as they are mostly used in other styles. And who wants to copy another culture?
- For make-up, check out other wikiHow articles.
- Try to make your own accessories to bring your style to life.
- When you put the nail polish, use black.
- Listen to bands like ptv, sws, bmth, mcr, etc …
Warnings
- Don't do badly in school. Just because you're an emo doesn't mean you have to get bad grades or take notes. There are tons of emos who do well in school because they know who they are and are confident in themselves. Usually, emos also tend to be more introverted so they can focus more during class.
- Some people don't think highly of emo. Don't be offended if someone laughs at you or looks at you badly. You are who you are, don't care about others.
- Don't abandon your old friends because they're not emo - they don't have to be.
- If your friends don't like your style, don't change for them. Tell them they have to accept you. But don't argue, because it's not pleasant to be pushed aside. You are the way you are, don't change just because others don't like you. Often it is just plain jealousy.
- You might be called an impostor - but remember that being an imposter is really your choice.
- Don't get emo overnight or they'll tell you you're fake.
