Wearing a swimming cap has several advantages: it prevents your hair from coming into contact with the chlorinated water of the pool, from sticking to your face while swimming and from resisting when you are in the pool. From the point of view of the facility manager, it also prevents hair from reaching the tub filters. Swimming caps are pretty basic in shape and design, but they can be a little tricky to put on! With a few simple tips you will be able to put it on quickly and painlessly.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Wear the Swimming Cap Without Help
Step 1. Gather your hair back and tie it back
If they are long, use a rubber band to make a ponytail or bun (depending on their length). Make sure you tie them tightly so they don't slip out.
While wearing the cap, there is a risk that the hairstyle will shift and fall, so you may want to tie them higher than where you would like them to be once the cap is on
Step 2. Wet your hair using the toilet water inside the locker room
Run your head under the sink water or in the shower for a few seconds. By wetting the hair, the cap fabric will slide more easily over the head. Headphones tend to stick and pull strands when the hair is dry.
Consider covering your head with a thin layer of conditioner. This way you will have less difficulty putting it on
Step 3. Open the headset
Proceed using your hands, considering getting the inside of the cap wet. It is not necessary, but some people find it easier to wear this way. Hold it by the edge with both hands.
However, wetting it also runs the risk of complicating the maneuver to put it on: it depends on the type of cap you are using
Step 4. Slip the headset over your head
Lower your head and place the front on your forehead, between the hairline and eyebrows. Make it sit on your forehead, pulling it back and down with your hands so that it covers the rest of your head.
Step 5. Fix it
Once the headset is on your head, adjust it according to your needs. Tuck the unruly strands inside, better position the front so that it covers the hairline, avoiding it reaching up to the eyebrows. Then cover your ears. Pull the back to make sure it doesn't slip out and put on the swimming goggles.
The position of the headset on the ears depends on personal needs. Some people prefer to cover them completely, especially during a race. Others leave them half covered, while still others don't cover them at all
Method 2 of 3: Put on the Swimming Cap with Someone's Help
Step 1. Gather your hair back and tie it back
If they are long, use a rubber band to pull them back into a ponytail or bun. The headset may move them, so be sure to tie them firmly and high up.
Step 2. Wet your hair
Dip your head in the pool or run it in the shower before putting on the cap. Since the fabric of which it is made tends to stick and pull dry hair, getting it wet will make it less difficult to put it on (although this depends on the material it is made of).
Step 3. Slip on the headset
Ask a friend to help you put it on. Spread it out with your hands and lower your head. Hold the front so it fits against your forehead while your friend grabs the back of the headset and stretches it towards the back of the head.
Step 4. Adjust it to your needs
Once it's on your head, fix it better. Lower it further, adjust its position on the forehead and tuck all the unruly locks inside.
Remember that you can place it on your ears in any way you find most comfortable. You can tuck them all the way under, leave them out, or only partially cover them
Method 3 of 3: Drop the Headphone from Above with Someone's Help
Step 1. Gather your hair back and tie it back
If they are long, use a rubber band to make a ponytail or bun. Make sure to tie them tightly, as they may move while you are wearing the headset.
Step 2. Fill the cap with water
Ask a friend to turn it over and fill it with water. You can use water from the pool, sink or any other source.
Whoever helps you has to hold it along the edge, so that the water stays inside
Step 3. Slip it on
Sit on the ground and ask your friend to stand on top of you, holding the headset directly over your head. He can hold it close to his face or a little higher to make it fall from a greater height. Ask him to let go of the headset so that it falls evenly on your head.
- Thanks to the weight of the water, the cap will gain speed, positioning itself and adhering to the head.
- Please note that this method does not always work on the first try and that the results may vary each time. Most often it is necessary to adjust the headset.
Step 4. Fix it better
Adjust the headset so that it fits comfortably. Reposition it on your head, tuck all the unruly strands inside and cover your ears.
Advice
Put some talcum powder inside the cap and shake it to get rid of the excess. If you don't have talcum powder on hand, water or baking soda are fine too
Warnings
- If there is a tear or hole, even a very small one, on the headset, stop using it. It will definitely break completely next time you use it!
- Avoid touching the fabric of the cap with your fingernails, otherwise it could puncture.
- Some headphones contain latex, which can cause allergic reactions. Find out if you are allergic to this material and, if so, always check the cap you need to wear.
- Latex headphones are not as strong as silicone ones. Try various types to find the one that best suits your needs.
