Do your cats have fleas but you don't want to use chemicals on them or can't afford it cheaply? In this article, there are ways to fight fleas naturally.
Steps
Step 1. Check if your cat has fleas
Does your cat scratch itself often because it has fleas? A cat may also scratch due to allergies or dandruff. Check the coat thoroughly before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2. Buy a flea comb
You can find them easily in pet stores. If you already have one for lice, you can use that.
Step 3. Purchase some fresh lavender
Sometimes it can be difficult to find, you can try in health food stores or health food stores. Lavender is a natural flea repellent and smells pleasant to both you and your cats. You can also buy lavender seeds or a plant and grow it in the garden.
Step 4. Get a sprayer
You can use an empty one you already have at home, but avoid any that contained chemicals. Wash the bottle well to prevent your cat from having allergic reactions.
Step 5. Soak the lavender overnight
Take a nice bunch of fresh lavender, put it in a clean container and let it soak overnight.
Step 6. Drain it and put the water inside the sprayer
Use a tea strainer to scoop the lavender.
Step 7. Fill the sprayer with lavender water
Step 8. Comb the cat with the flea comb
Avoid the ear area and pay attention to the muzzle. Comb the cat from head to tail, especially along the neck, muzzle, armpits, under the chin and belly.
Step 9. Spray lavender all over the cat's body
Soak your cat well with lavender. To prevent them from escaping or scratching yourself, ask another person for help. Cats may not like the sound of the spray and the feeling of wetness. Avoid sprinkling lavender in your cat's eyes, mouth, and nose. Focus on the areas listed in step 8. Remember to pay attention to the muzzle area.
Step 10. Sterilize the house
It is very difficult to get rid of fleas, therefore it is essential to sterilize the house THOROUGHLY. This rule also applies to clothes, sheets, mattresses, carpets, rugs and furniture. Buy products that are not dangerous to animal health (and yours!). Use the vacuum cleaner often!
Step 11. Apply the lavender spray when needed and brush the cat often
Once a day is ideal. Periodically check if the cat has fleas and, if it does, count them, to see if it could be a serious problem or not.
Advice
- Brush your cat often with a flea comb.
