Feeding sand crabs is not that difficult, but consistency, a sense of responsibility and prudence must be maintained. It takes no more than 5 minutes a day, which makes it a great hobby. In the end, you will feel proud to raise one of the most adorable and unique animals in the world!
Steps
Step 1. Keep in mind that sand crabs eat a variety of foods
Between these:
-
Sand fleas.
-
Clams.
-
Small crabs.
-
Baby turtles.
Step 2. Find substitutes for feeding crabs in your home environment
Clearly it will be difficult to find some of their natural foods.
Step 3. Also know that hermit crabs are different from sand crabs in their lifestyle and diet
Step 4. The first and most expensive way to feed your sand crab is to go to the pet store and buy the food
Be aware that this is not a very cheap task - clams, turtles, fleas and plankton are not easily found and therefore can be expensive.
Step 5. If you are unwilling to spend too much, there is an alternative
If you observe sand crabs in their natural habitat, you will notice that when a wave rises and covers them, they burrow themselves deep in the wet sand, and there they capture the plankton with their antennae. You can try to repeat this process by putting beach sand in its habitat and then pouring "fresh" salt water onto the sand.
