MAC is a very popular brand of high quality makeup, but also very expensive. Many people want to get MAC cheats at a lower price than the list, so they search for them on eBay. The problem with eBay is that there are people out there selling fake MAC products. Fake MACs are not just a scam, as you don't get what you paid for, but sometimes the ingredients can be very harmful to you, so if you suspect something is fake, don't use it for the sake of your health.
Steps
Step 1. Look carefully at the images posted by the seller
One sign that the Arctic is authentic is a photo that frames the bottom of the package, and if there are a lot of photos. Sellers want you to know that they are selling authentic products, and will show you all the evidence they can. If the photos are unclear and out of focus, contact the seller and ask for more photos. If they refuse or find an excuse, avoid the purchase as they may try to sell fake products.
Eyeshadows will never have a sponge applicator. Sponge applicators are plastic sticks with sponge on the tips. In fact, most MAC products are not sold with applicators
Step 2. Look at the product name
MAC products such as pigments, eyeshadows, nail polishes, etc. they will not have a number but a name.
Step 3. Check the writing type
The fonts on MAC products are usually small and placed at the bottom, however, fake products may have larger fonts and placed in the center.
Step 4. Double check the name
Fake products will have a name, but of any other mac product. To find out, just go to the MAC Cosmetics website and click on the good purchases, and look for the discontinued items. Type the name of the article, if it is not in the end of series section and not even in the current one, then it is obviously a fake.
Step 5. Search YouTube
There are many makeup guru videos carefully illustrating certain elements of MAC products that can be fake.
Step 6. Pay with Pay Pal, always
If you receive it and realize it's a fake, you have a period of time where you can get it back and get your money back!
Advice
The easiest way not to buy fakes is to buy from the MAC website, or at a MAC store or booth
Warnings
- If the price is too good to be true, it probably isn't!
- PayPal does not offer protection against MAC scammers. It is the buyer's responsibility to obtain written proof that the cosmetic product is fake from a recognized authority. It is against MAC Pro Store policy to provide such documentation. A MAC manager will tell you verbally, but that's about it. Moral of the story, learn how to spot fakes and don't count on PayPal's protection.
