The rainbow loom is a fun and inexpensive bracelet that can be purchased in many craft and home improvement stores around the world. Weaving rainbow bracelets on this loom is a fun pastime for adults and children; it is easy to make and the items you can make can be beautiful gifts or just accessories for yourself! Here is a series of illustrated examples. Try them all and then choose the funniest one.
Steps
Method 1 of 9: Basic Bracelet
Step 1. Set up your rainbow loom kit
Read the instructions that came with the frame and set it as indicated. Make sure the U-shaped pegs are facing up. The arrows must point away from your body.
Step 2. Place the first rubber band diagonally
Insert the first rubber band diagonally onto a peg. It is advisable to start from the first central peg. It doesn't matter which way you go when you move the elastic diagonally, but start with that.
Step 3. Place the second rubber band
Insert the second rubber band diagonally, using the second of the pegs on which you placed the first rubber band as a starting point.
Step 4. Repeat the operation
Repeat these steps, reversing the direction of the diagonal each time, until you get a zigzag shape all over the frame.
Step 5. Flip the frame over
Flip the rainbow loom over so that the pegs are facing down. The arrows must point towards your body. This will help you grab the rubber bands to weave them.
Step 6. Use crochet
Crochet the second elastic onto the first center peg from under the first elastic.
Step 7. Place the elastic
Flip the elastic over the hook so that it folds in half (fold it over the elastic that sits above it) and place it on the second peg in the next row. Whether it is on the right or on the left depends on what you have chosen previously.
Step 8. Repeat this step
Continue the process throughout the rainbow loom. Eventually you should end up with something that looks like the image above (like a series of connected circles).
Step 9. Add the hook
Grab a C-shaped or S-shaped hook from your kit. Hook it to the last elastic.
Step 10. Remove the rubber bands from the frame
Carefully remove the rubber bands from the frame. Unfold the bracelet.
Step 11. Connect the ends
Attach the end of the bracelet to the C-shaped hook.
Step 12. Done
Enjoy your new bracelet. Now that you're done, keep making more.
Method 2 of 9: Starburst Bracelet (Starburst)
Step 1. Prepare the perimeter bands
With the arrows pointing up, put a rubber band around the first central peg and from there hook it to the first peg on the left.
-
Hook a rubber band from the first left peg to the second peg on the same side, then hook another rubber band from the second to the third peg.
-
Continue along the left line until you reach the penultimate rung.
-
Then hook a rubber band diagonally from the penultimate left peg to the last middle peg.
-
Go back to the starting peg and repeat all this process on the other side, until you have the rubber bands all around the perimeter of the frame.
Step 2. Make the first star
Push down all the perimeter bands.
-
Then insert a color A rubber band (whatever color you want) on the second peg in the middle row and the second peg in the right row. After that, insert five more rubber bands going from the middle row peg to each of the surrounding pegs, clockwise. By doing this you should get a star or asterisk shape.
-
Push all the bands down before moving forward.
Step 3. Make the next stars
Place a rubber band diagonally from the fourth peg in the middle row to the fourth peg on the right row. Put the rubber bands on again in a clockwise direction until you have another star whose bottom tip overlaps the top of the first star. Repeat this process until the entire frame is filled (inside the perimeter).
-
Keep pushing the bands down each time.
-
You can change the colors of the stars as you go.
Step 4. Place the rubber bands of the center circle
-
Fold a rubber band of the same color as the perimeter over itself and place it on the last central peg. Then fold another one to place it in the center of the star.
-
Continue placing these folded rubber bands in the center of each star until the end of the frame.
Step 5. Start weaving
Turn the frame so that the arrows point towards you.
-
Then crochet the bottom ring of the star closest to you from the first center peg and pull it up (be careful not to move the other rubber bands on the peg).
-
Hook it onto the center peg.
Step 6. Weave all the stars
Then, starting at the center of the star and moving counterclockwise, use the crochet hook to grab the first half of each rubber band and hook it onto the peg it starts on (moving to center, peg, center, peg, center, peg, and so on). Always be careful not to move the other bands on the center peg. You should get something that looks like a flower or a sun. Repeat this process for all stars.
Step 7. Weave the perimeter
Starting with the elastic that goes around the bottom peg of the left row and the bottom peg of the middle row, grab the end that is wrapped around the bottom center peg and pull it up (without moving the other bands).
-
Hook it over the bottom left peg, so that both ends of the elastic are on that peg. Then, do the same for the elastic which is wrapped around the bottom peg on the left and the penultimate peg on the left.
-
Do this until the entire left side is finished, stopping when you hook the last left side elastic onto the last middle peg.
-
Then go back to the starting point and work on the right side of the frame.
Step 8. Add the final round
Hook with your hook, inserting it downwards, all the rubber bands on the last central peg.
-
Grab a new rubber band between your fingers, pull it up through all the other bands, and then insert the hook into the circle of the new band, so that the band wraps completely around it.
-
Then, holding the hook in your hand with the circle still wrapped, pull the entire bracelet off the frame.
Step 9. Increase the extension
Add new rubber bands to the frame, about five, all on one side.
-
Hook the elastic from the first peg to the second, then from the second peg to the third, from the third to the fourth, and so on. Then, take the first circle at the end of your bracelet (on the side without the hook) and treat it like another rubber band, adding it to the chain you started on the loom. Then, chain the rubber bands from the end with the bracelet all the way down to the first rubber band.
Step 10. Add the hook
Add a C-shaped hook to the last elastic on the rainbow loom, take it out of the hoop and connect the hook to the loops on the hook. Pull out the hook and that's it!
Step 11. Enjoy your new bracelet
Method 3 of 9: Triple Single Bracelet (Triple Chain)
Step 1. Set the hoop so that the lines are shaped like a "v"
Step 2. Take a colored rubber band, hook it to the bottom peg and stretch it to the right peg above it
Do the same on all the lower pegs.
Step 3. Wrap the color:
keep doing the same thing all over the frame.
Step 4. Wrap the center:
take a neutral color and, skipping the first set of pegs, place it on the frame so that it looks like an inverted triangle.
Step 5. Make sure the arrows are facing you when you start working with the hook
-
Take the bottom colored elastic and pull it up to the peg directly on it.
Step 6. Continue with the hook
Do the same thing for all the rows above the first, up to the end of the frame.
Step 7. When you reach the end, gently clip the rubber bands on both pegs and transfer them to the last middle peg
Step 8. Add the final round
Insert the hook through all the rubber bands of the last center peg. Grab a new elastic between your fingers, pull it up through the elastic and then insert the hook into the circle of the new elastic, so that the new elastic is completely wrapped around the hook.
-
Then, holding the hook in your hand with the circle still wrapped, slide the entire bracelet off the loom.
Step 9. Increase the extension
Add new rubber bands on the frame, about 8 or 10, all on one side.
-
Hook the elastic from the first peg to the second, then from the second peg to the third, from the third to the fourth, and so on. Then, take the first circle at the end of your bracelet (on the side without the hook) and treat it like another rubber band, adding it to the chain you started on the loom. Then, chain the rubber bands from the end with the bracelet all the way down to the first rubber band.
Step 10. Add the C or S-shaped hook
Add a hook to the last elastic on the rainbow loom, pull it all out of the hoop, and then hook the rubber bands onto the hook.
Step 11. Pull out the hook and that's it
Method 4 of 9: Connected Plug Bracelet
These steps are the same as those for the herringbone bracelet, but for this model you only need 2 rubber bands per round, while the other uses 3.
Step 1. Get a rubber band of any color
Step 2. Twist it into the shape of the number 8
Put it on your thumb and forefinger.
Step 3. Add another rubber band over the 8-shaped one, but this time without twisting it
Put it on your fingers as it is.
Step 4. Carefully move the 8-shaped rubber band over the regular band from your thumb and forefinger
Step 5. Add a new rubber band on the others and then move the bottom part up
Method 5 of 9: Inverted Herringbone Bracelet
Step 1. Twist an 8-shaped rubber band
Put a ring on each finger.
Step 2. Repeat this two more times
Step 3. Push the center elastic all the way down
Step 4. Bring the elastic that is now in the middle over your fingers
Step 5. Put another rubber band over your fingers
But this time not in the shape of an 8.
Step 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4
Step 7. Keep repeating steps 3, 4, 5 and 6 until the bracelet is the right size
You can check this by taking the final end and placing it at the top of the bracelet.
Step 8. Collect all the rubber bands on one finger
Then put them on the other finger.
Step 9. Take the "S" or "C" shaped hook
Hook to all the rubber bands on your finger.
Step 10. Connect the other end of the clasp to the other end of the bracelet
Done!
Method 6 of 9: Single Chain Bracelet
Step 1. Grab 10 to 20 rubber bands of any color
Make sure you have an S-shaped hook.
Step 2. Take the first rubber band
Crochet through it making an X.
Step 3. After passing through the first rubber band, add another one over the crossed one
Step 4. Continue like this until the desired final cuff length is reached
Step 5. Take the S-shaped hook
Connect it to the ends. Done. This is all you need to do for a single chain bracelet.
Method 7 of 9: Ladder Bracelet (ladder)
Step 1. Make sure the hoop arrows are pointing towards you
Check that you have an S-shaped or C-shaped hook.
Step 2. Insert the perimeter rubber bands on the frame
Step 3. Insert the rubber bands that go straight onto the frame
Step 4. Insert the rubber bands that go through the center set of pegs on the frame
Step 5. Put a rubber band on the last middle peg
Twist it in the shape of an 8 and turn part of it on itself. You are now ready to weave!
Step 6. Crochet the middle elastics
Step 7. Put the rubber bands back on the frame
Step 8. Crochet the perimeter elastics
Step 9. Thread the hook through the area, take the extra elastic and insert it through the channel of the cuff
Step 10. Create the right extension for your wrist
And that's it! This is how a ladder bracelet is made.
Method 8 of 9: Tutu bracelet
Step 1. Make the hoop so that the lines are straight
do not use the third column if possible.
Step 2. Follow steps 2 to 5 of the triple chain bracelet without the third column
Step 3. Begin to clip as you would for the single chain bracelet
Step 4. Follow steps 7 at the end of the single chain bracelet to complete
Method 9 of 9: Add a Ring
Step 1. Make a single loop or a simple or inverted herringbone
Step 2. Attach it to the bracelet hook or a strap
Step 3. Put the end of the ring around your finger
Step 4. Finished
Advice
- If you have a small wrist, do not fill the frame with the rubber bands to the end.
- It may seem like it takes longer to make the bracelet by hand, but the result is much more attractive.
