Have you ever seen those expensive upside down tomato planters in catalogs? Don't be silly and don't buy one, they get bad reviews. Build it yourself. The tomato plant is a creeper, so if you plant it upside down it won't feel confused, but all those little beasts that feed on it will be when you plant it on the ground. The best thing about these planters is that you can use the space above to plant other things, such as basil, parsley, and lettuce.
Steps
Step 1. Find a 20 liter bucket that has a handle
You can buy one at home improvement stores. This one was used to transport salt for a marine aquarium. Sometimes when you buy the bucket, you get some pool chemicals or laundry detergent.
Step 2. Use the drill to make a 2-5cm hole in the center of the bottom of the bucket
Step 3. After a period of frost, carefully insert a tomato plant through the hole into the bucket, leaving the root intact along with the earth
Step 4. Without crushing the plant, fill the bucket with potting soil
You can also add fertilizers, such as blood meal.
Step 5. Hang it in a place that is safe from the sun's rays
Step 6. Water the top plant as needed
Step 7. Plant on top of the seeds or herbs
Like parsley, basil, radishes, lettuce, carrots and more.
Step 8. Be patient
In a couple of months, you will be able to enjoy tomatoes, saving space and creating something subject to debate.
Advice
- Plant some Pachino tomatoes and hang them from your children's swing. They will have a healthy treat at their fingertips!
- If the handle of the bucket breaks, make two holes of 1cm each using a drill and hang it using a sturdy rope, such as the one for boats.
