Generally, outdoor pools are equipped with underwater lighting. Just like with any headlight, the bulb could burn out and need to be replaced. There is no need to lower the water level of the pool to replace it. Here are some steps you can take to change a swimming pool lighthouse.

Step 1. Turn off all power to the pool lighting

You can do this through the electrical panel. Some pools are equipped with their own switchboard

Step 2. Check to make sure there is no power by trying to turn on the pool lights

  • Not sure about this step … If the lighthouse has burned out, it won't light up anyway.
  • Make sure the pump doesn't turn on if you only have one spot in the pool.

Step 3. Remove the single screw on the top of the stand

This may be a slotted screw, but more likely it will be a Phillips screw, so you will need a suitable screwdriver

Advice

  • Place towels near the area you're working in to put the lens on so it won't break or get damaged.
  • It will be helpful to have another person to help you with the procedure.

Warnings

  • After replacing the bulb, be sure not to bump it or drop it. The filament in the bulb is fragile and could break.
  • Do not reattach the lens when testing the replacement bulb. Leaving the lens unplugged will allow the heat to dissipate and the lens itself will not crack.
  • Do not attempt to change the bulb until you are absolutely certain that the pool lighting circuit is disconnected.
  • If the lens has tabs, be careful not to damage the waterproof gasket when you take the lens out.
