Dragons are magical and mystical creatures with a scary appearance and terrifying qualities. However, many dragons also have a softer side, and can be trained by brave heroes and heroines looking for an adventure. If you've always wanted to train a dragon, read the first step below to get started in this fun fantasy RPG!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Recognizing the Dragon Species
Step 1. Train a Common Brown Dragon (Basic Brown)
This is one of the most common species. It is also one of the least dangerous, so the brown dragon is perfect for training or keeping as a pet. The brown dragon is herbivorous - so it does not eat meat.
- Brown dragons are medium in size and the various specimens have all shades of brown. They have spiny backbones all the way down to the tail and have normal sized claws and teeth.
- Brown dragons are not good hunters, but they can be very fast when they want to. They are usually not aggressive, but they fight very well when angry.
Step 2. Train a Gronkle
Gronkle are a type of massive dragons, famous for being lazy and stupid. They move very slowly - especially fat ones - and sometimes have trouble flying. Despite this, the Gronkles can be frightening in battle, thanks to their immense strength.
- Gronkle are medium-sized dragons with a massive body that can come in different shades of brown, green, and beige. They have a formidable arsenal, including pointed fangs, hard, fire-resistant skin, and a pointed tail like a club. However, their most frightening feature is their ability to shoot molten lava rather than breathe fire.
- Gronkles are often grumpy, but they are also sweet to their owners and babies. For this reason it is quite easy to train them.
Step 3. Train a Driller-Dragon
This type of dragon is frightening and for this reason it is often employed to guard and protect the homes of the Vikings.
- Drill dragons are always black and have a giant horn on the tip of their nose that rotates at high speed. These auger horns can drill through materials such as wood and rock very easily.
- Drill dragons don't have many distinguishing features, aside from their gigantic horn. They are not particularly intelligent and their little brains are found in a lump above their head, much like a giant pimple. However, drill dragons are very loyal and can be trained very well.
Step 4. Train an Electricsquirm
Electricsquirms are dwarf dragons - miniature dragons that fit in one hand! The electricsquirm conducts an electric current that causes very powerful shocks to anyone who touches it.
- The electricsquirm is transparent, but when it produces electricity it becomes phosphorescent with a white or yellow light. The only part of the dragon that can be touched without being shocked is the tail - a fundamental part to remember during training. Taking an electricsquirm by the tail will ensure that the dragon does not bite you, as it is predisposed to give small bites.
- Although very small, the electricsquirm is a very useful dragon because its phosphorescent body can be used as a light source when you don't have candles or torches.
Step 5. Train a Monstrous Nightmare
These dragons are gigantic, terrifying, very fast and aggressive. It is very difficult to train them, so only experienced trainers should try.
- The Monstrous Nightmare has green scales, purple wings and red spikes. They have large teeth and extendable claws and their bites are quite poisonous. Their most impressive quality is the ability to soak in their saliva and set them on fire - in this way they transform into a frightening ball of fire.
- If you can train one, the Monstrous Nightmare has fantastic qualities: they are fierce in battle and are also excellent hunters. For training it is recommended to close his mouth to block the poisonous fangs and the possibility of spitting fireballs; fix the horns to the ground (he also seems to like it) and above all treat it with all the respect it deserves.
Step 6. Train a Raptortongue
The Raptortongue is a shy and mysterious dragon whose main feature is to almost completely flatten the body so that it can fit into even the smallest spaces. This is because it has ribs with triple joints.
- Raptortongue are chameleons, so their bodies change color depending on the background they want to hide in. They are the size of a lenon and have normal sized fangs and claws.
- The Raptortongue's ability to infiltrate small spaces and blend into the environment (combined with its speed and radar capability) make it a perfect spy - ideal for sending into enemy territories to obtain information and items!
Step 7. Train a Saber-Tooth Driving Dragon
This is a fairly large dragon (about twice the size of a lion), mainly used to pull the sleds of the Vikings in winter.
- These "driver" dragons are completely white, with two large spikes protruding from their heads and two terrifying saber teeth. They are also "evergreen," so they don't have to hibernate in winter.
- Saber-toothed dragons are a bit unpredictable - even if they are not too fast they are very strong and can be aggressive in battle. Many of these dragons have even eaten their masters, so be careful!
Step 8. Train a Sniffer Dragon
The snuff dragon is perfect for novice trainers - it is in fact very gentle, not aggressive; a perfect companion or pet.
- The snuff dragon is a light, aquamarine color. It has very distinct physical characteristics, as it is gigantic and has a hairy nose, which makes its sense of smell very sophisticated and developed.
- While these dragons are not good in combat, their sense of smell is so developed that it makes them perfect hounds - they can be used to find lost enemies or friends.
Step 9. Train a Night Fury
The Night Furies are the rarest dragons of all known dragon species. They are extremely intelligent, have sophisticated tactical strategies in combat and a lot of curiosity to learn new things.
- Night Fury is dark blue / black with intense yellow eyes. The body is more streamlined than other dragons and has broad wings. For this reason it is a very adept dragon in flight, both in terms of speed and accuracy. The Night Fury uses echolocation to find its way in the dark, which is why it is extremely dangerous at night.
- The only way to train a Night Fury is to earn their trust and respect, which is very difficult. However, once this happens, the Night Fury is extremely loyal and protective of its master and will defend him at all costs. Night Fury can also be playful and mischievous when it gets to grips with its trainer.
Step 10. Avoid dragon species that are impossible to train
Some species are too dangerous or difficult to train and must be avoided at all costs. Some examples are:
-
Exterminator dragons:
They are gigantic and terrifying dragons with transparent skin showing their internal organs (including the two hearts). These dragons can destroy vast territories with their fire and love to kill just for the sake of killing.
-
Skullion:
Skullions are a rare species that cannot see, hear or fly (they have no wings). However, they have a very keen sense of smell and a thirst for blood, which makes them very dangerous and impossible to train.
-
Fangs of Doom - Doomfangs:
Doomfangs are huge, terrifying dragons that live in the sea, with black scales and mesmerizing green eyes. They spit out strange blue flames that freeze their prey and kill it. The Doomfang is a dangerous predator that must be avoided at all costs.
Method 2 of 3: Train the Dragon
Step 1. Hatch the dragon egg if possible
To train a dragon you have to earn its respect, but this is very difficult with adult dragons.
- For this reason, the best way to train a dragon is to raise it from an early age, so that you can bond like a baby. That way he'll be faithful and trust you right from the start.
- Be careful though - baby dragons are hard to handle! You have to feed them and play with them constantly and they always wake up to pranks. Baby dragons don't know how to control their impulses, so you can beat them, burn them, or injure them in any way as you raise them. However, if you can endure this delicate phase, you will be rewarded with love and fidelity.
- Remember that you must never, I say NEVER, steal a dragon egg from the mother. It is a cruel act that will make the mother go on a rampage. You just have to save abandoned eggs.
Step 2. Respect the dragon
Dragons are proud and fearful creatures that demand and deserve respect. How can you expect a dragon to respect and listen to you when you don't do the same to him?
- You can show your dragon that you respect him in many simple ways. The first is eye contact - this tells the dragon that you consider him the same as you.
- The second way is to respect the dragon's spaces. If he's in a bad mood, leave him alone. If he is angry, do not try to stroke or ride him, it will make the situation worse.
- Third, never forget that the dragon is a dangerous creature that can never be 100% tamed. It's like having a bear or a lion as a pet - you can tame them, but they will never lose their dangerous and unpredictable side.
Step 3. Earn your dragon's trust
The absolute most important thing to do when training a dragon is to earn its trust. If the dragon trusts you completely, he will always do what you tell him, just to please you.
- You can earn a dragon's trust by gently placing a hand on its muzzle. This way the dragon will calm down if he is angry or scared. This gesture also makes him understand that you are not a danger to him.
- You can earn a dragon's trust even by being kind and polite - a dragon will never listen to you if you yell at it or throw stones at it.
- Another effective way to gain a dragon's trust is to show him that you are trustworthy and that he can rely on you. If you tell him you're going to bring him food, do it. If you promise him that no one will ever hurt him, keep your promise. Most dragons will return this loyalty.
Step 4. Reward the dragon with food
An effective method of training a dragon is to reward their good behaviors rather than punish bad attitudes. You can reward your dragon when he does something you asked him to do, such as standing still or flying on his back.
- A dragon's favorite reward is food, which varies by dragon species. Carnivorous dragons love fish (with bones and all) and legs of lamb. Herbivorous dragons (like the brown one) love to eat flower petals.
- Another reward that dragons appreciate is being scratched under the chin, or stroked behind the ears. But be careful - when a dragon laughs it can accidentally breathe fire!
Step 5. Play with your dragon
Despite being scary, most dragons love to play and have fun when they are happy and feel safe. So playing with your dragon is an excellent method of establishing a great relationship with him.
- Each dragon has their favorite game, so you need to figure out what yours likes. Some dragons like to bring things back - throw a stick in the air with a slingshot and fly the dragon to grab it and bring it back.
- Other dragons love to play with their food. Take a piece of raw meat and toss it in the air. The dragon will use its fire to cook it before it even grabs it in the mouth!
Method 3 of 3: Learn Dragonese
Step 1. Learn some basic vocabulary
Drogonese is the language that dragons use to communicate with each other, so if you learn it you will be able to communicate with your dragon more easily. Here are some useful words to get you started:
-
Hello:

-
Yup:
Yessee / Ta / Yow
-
Delightful:

Step 2. Learn commands
After the basic words, you can learn commands that will help you train your dragon.
-
Fly:
Flip-flap
-
Sitting:
Parka of barrels
-
He eats:
Much-munch
-

- If you want to say "not" to do one of these things you just have to add the word "Na". For example, if you want to say "don't scream" in Dragonese, you have to say "na yowlyshreekers".
Step 3. Learn some useful phrases
When you start communicating with your dragon, you also need to learn some common phrases that will help you deal with a mischievous dragon, such as:
- Please don't poop in the house, thanks: Nee-ah crappa inna by hoosus, pishyu.
-
My mom doesn't want me to bite her in the back:
Mi mama no likeit yum-yum on by bum.
-
