Do your best to be the life of the party at the next baby shower and design a motorcycle-shaped diaper cake to give to the expectant mother. Makes a great gift for two-wheel fans or anyone who loves cute things. This project does not require great craftsmanship, just a little time and materials.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Choose the Materials for the Cake
Step 1. Choose items with a style and color that you think the expectant mother will like
The following list will explain exactly what you need (also refer to the section "Things You Will Need"):
- At least 34 nappies (newborn or very first sizes).
- 2 baby blankets.
- 2 bibs and a toy pacifier chain (suitable for a baby).
- 1 pair of baby socks.
- 1 bottle.
- 1 towel.
- 1 cloth puppet (which does not have buttons or small parts that can be swallowed and cause choking).
Method 2 of 4: Create the Wheels
You need to create the circles that form the tires.
Step 1. Fill the cake pan with folded diapers
Place them on their long side so that they remain straight in the pan, then compact them well. When you have filled an area of the pan, move to the other side.
Step 2. Continue filling the edges of the pan with the folded diapers, creating a spiral pattern
Step 3. Secure the diapers
Wrap one of the rubber bands around the diaper circle.
Step 4. Lift the diaper “tire” and gently place it on a hard surface
You can ask a friend to help you because if even a single diaper slips from the elastic, you will have to start all over again!
Step 5. Prepare another gum in the same way
-
Wrap the diapers with a rubber band and, with great care, lift them off the pan. Place the wheel next to the one you made earlier.
Step 6. Tie a ribbon with a decorative bow around each tire
In this way you will greatly improve the appearance of the composition.
-
Secure the bow with a pin so it won't come off.
Method 3 of 4: Add the Blankets
Step 1. Fold the first blanket in half lengthwise
If necessary, iron it to remove wrinkles.
Step 2. Wrap the blanket to form a very tight roll
The roll must be able to pass through the center of the diaper tire. Secure it with a pin.
Step 3. Slide the blanket to the center of the wheel
The roll must protrude half from one side of the wheel and half from the other. The cylinder must not lose its shape, so add pins if necessary.
Step 4. Place the diaper wheel on the edge (now it looks just like a motorcycle tire)
Connect the blanket from the first tire to the second. Line up the tires close to each other so that they form the base of the bike.
-
Insert one end of the blanket into the hole in the second nappy gum. Pull gently so the blanket will hold the two wheels in place.
-
Add pins to make sure everything is secure.
Step 5. Fold the second blanket in half lengthwise
Then roll it up as you did the first.
Step 6. Put the second blanket in the opening of the first (front) wheel
Slide the cylinder completely inside the hole until both ends touch.
Method 4 of 4: Add the Latest Details
Step 1. Attach the bib to the front wheel
Make sure that the drawings or the child's name are clearly visible and face outwards.
Step 2. Keep the ends of the second blanket facing up
Thread a loop of the toy chain so that it pinches the two ends of the blanket. The ring must go down to half the length of the blanket.
Step 3. Insert the bottle between the two "dumbbells", just below the ring
Make sure it fits snugly.
Step 4. Define and strengthen the dumbbell
Insert a small piece of cardboard wrapped in a tube inside each handlebar.
Step 5. Fill the socks with some tissue paper to give them volume
Step 6. On each end of the handlebar slip a sock
If they do not stay firmly, secure them with a pin.
Step 7. Add the second bib to the rear wheel, just like you did with the first one
Step 8. Have the stuffed toy sit on the motorcycle as if he were riding it
You will probably need to pin it, especially if it is a very soft puppet.
Step 9. Finished
Now that you've enjoyed it, you can give this useful and pretty gift to the mom-to-be.
Advice
- Place the cake in an oversized basket filled with gifts for Mom (vouchers to go to a spa, a bottle of champagne, and a nice nightgown to wear to the hospital).
- Place a towel to wrap the bottle before placing it on top of the bib.
