This tutorial will show you some techniques for drawing a dragon head.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Draw a Dragon Head Using Shapes
Step 1. Draw two overlapping circles with light pencil strokes
Step 2. Use two shapes that resemble wedges to make the face
Step 3. Draw the neck (use a snake image as a reference)
Step 4. Trace the basic shape of the part of the head you want to add (in our drawing, we made some fins with a trapezoid)
Step 5. Draw other shapes, such as cones or semicircles, to make horns or barbels or mane, etc
.. (check in books or on the internet the characteristics of other animals that you might need).
Step 6. Outline the elements you have decided to add (in our drawing we made horns based on a water buffalo)
Step 7. Sketch the shape and position of the eyes
Step 8. Use a fine-tipped tool to add the smallest details and finish the design
Step 9. Make other details such as fins, bumps, barbels, etc
..
Step 10. Review the drawing based on the sketch
Step 11. Erase all sketch lines to get a clean and well defined drawing
Step 12. Color your drawing and add lights and shadows
Method 2 of 2: Draw a Dragon Head Using Animals as a Reference
Step 1. Sketch the simplified shape of a snake's head as a guide (we used an oval)
Step 2. Sketch a wide open mouth, using images of snakes or crocodiles as a reference (we used a snake as a model)
Step 3. Trace the eyes and other details such as the nostrils and bumps in the forehead (we went back to a snake)
Step 4. Outline the elements you have decided to add (in our drawing we made some species of fins based on the chlamydosaurus collar)
Step 5. To complete the head, trace the horns or mane of your choice
Step 6. Make other details such as neck, tongue, fangs, barbels, etc
..
