Rick Simpson oil is a healing oil that is obtained from a variety of hemp called cannabis indica, the same one from which hashish and marijuana are made. Proponents of this oil believe that, by ingesting it or applying it to the skin, it can produce powerful health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure or relieving certain conditions. If you plan to make Rick Simpson oil, arrange and heat the ingredients in a well-ventilated area away from open flames, stoves, and devices that generate sparks. Follow the instructions carefully and take all the recommended precautions so as not to take any risks during preparation.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Making Cannabis Solvent
Step 1. Blend 450g of dried cannabis with 3.8L of isopropyl alcohol in a bowl
The flowers of cannabis indica allow you to obtain an oil of the highest quality and effectiveness, but if you want you can also use the leaves and other parts of the plant. After placing the flowers in a basin or bucket, add 3.8 L of isopropyl alcohol.
- Break up larger pieces of cannabis with a wooden spoon before adding the isopropyl alcohol.
- Before you begin, make sure the basin or bucket can hold at least 8 liters.
Step 2. Distribute the cannabis in alcohol
Break up the flowers or other parts of the plant with the wooden spoon after adding the isopropyl alcohol. Keep mixing in circular motions for about 3 minutes or until most of the hemp has dissolved. This procedure is used to extract the resin containing the cannabinoids from the plant.
At least 80% of the cannabis will have to dissolve in the liquid
Step 3. Filter the mixture using sterile gauze
Transfer the intact cannabis to a bowl and let it sit for about a minute. If you don't have gauze available, you can use a disposable paper coffee filter.
Step 4. Mix the cannabis residues with another 3.8L of isopropyl alcohol
Pour the alcohol into the bowl along with the remaining cannabis and stir until at least 80% of the flowers or plant have dissolved.
Step 5. Filter the mixture again using cheesecloth
When the resin has completely separated from the plant matter, the latter can be thrown away. Pour the filtered alcohol into the bowl containing the mixture extracted in the first step of the process.
Throw away any plant matter residue after you've filtered out all the alcohol
Part 2 of 3: Prepare the Oil
Step 1. Set up the rice cooker in a well-ventilated area
During the process, the isopropyl alcohol will evaporate and fumes will escape from the pan which could easily ignite; for this reason it is important to choose a place away from open flames, stoves and devices that can generate sparks. Of course, smoking is also prohibited.
Ideally, this is done outdoors, away from anything that could catch fire or generate a spark
Step 2. Transfer the isopropyl alcohol to the rice cooker
Fill it about three quarters of its capacity, then put the lid on and turn on the rice cooker at 100-110 ° C.
- A possible alternative is to heat the isopropyl alcohol in a slow cooker, but this is not recommended as if the mixture exceeds 150 ° C the cannabis will burn and become unusable.
- Save the remaining isopropyl alcohol for later. As the one in the pot evaporates, you will gradually add more, until you have used all of it.
Step 3. Check the alcohol level periodically and add more when it has evaporated
Wait each time for the amount of alcohol to halve, then fill the pot three-quarters full again. Add a few drops of water (about 10 for every 475ml of alcohol added) as the solvent evaporates to prevent the oil from overheating.
Step 4. Wait until a thick, dark oil remains in the pan
After adding all the solvent and letting it evaporate completely, only a very potent black oil will remain in the pot. It will have the thick consistency of a grease, a bitter taste and a very dark color.
Step 5. Suck up the oil with a plastic syringe
Dip the tip of the syringe into the oil and fill it by pulling the plunger back gently. Remove the syringe from inside the rice cooker and place the special plastic cap on the tip to prevent leakage.
- Do not transfer the oil into a single container. Fill several syringes to ensure correct dosing at the time of use.
- Rick Simpson oil should be stored in syringes because it is very powerful, so it is essential to dose it appropriately.
Part 3 of 3: Using Rick Simpson's Oil
Step 1. Take 5 to 9 drops per day to benefit from its therapeutic effects
Each drop must be the size of half a grain of rice or a maximum of one whole grain. Start with small drops, then eventually increase in size after several days or weeks, especially if you've never used cannabis before. On average, an adult may be able to ingest the full dose after 3-5 weeks.
- Proponents of Rick Simpson's oil say taken in these doses can help relieve chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and the symptoms of serious illnesses like cancer and diabetes.
- Put the oil under the tongue before swallowing, so that it is absorbed quickly through the mucous membranes.
- Do not be afraid that the oil will alter your psychophysical balance. Although it is extracted from cannabis, it generally has insufficient concentration to be exciting.
Step 2. Apply 1-2 drops of Rick Simpson oil to the skin using a cream or ointment
Add a drop or two to a moisturizer or medicinal ointment and rub the product into your skin. Repeat the application once a day.
- If you prefer, you can use coconut oil instead of a cream or ointment.
- The benefits attributed to Rick Simpson oil are the same for both external and oral use.
Step 3. Mix the oil with a sweet or savory food if you find it tastes too bitter
Pour 1 to 3 drops into a spreadable ingredient and eat it with your meal. If you want to take it orally, but you don't like the taste of it, a sauce or jam is a good option to mask the bitter taste.
- Ingesting Rick Simpson oil along with a food does not alter its benefits.
- Rick Simpson oil can also be inserted and taken in capsules.
Step 4. Pour Rick Simpson oil on gauze if you want to heal a wound
If you have decided to use its healing properties to heal a skin lesion, apply a few drops to a sterile gauze to wrap tightly around the wound. Change the dressing every 3-4 days.
Step 5. See your doctor in addition to using Rick Simpson oil
While many believe that it relieves certain symptoms, it is not a universal cure or an alternative to clinical treatments. Talk to your doctor before adding Rick Simpson oil to your current treatment and continue to follow his directions even after you start using it.
For example, if you suffer from high blood pressure, ask your doctor for help as well as experiment with unconventional treatments
Advice
Rick Simpson oil is generally not considered an addictive product
