Eggs are a simple ingredient, but when poached they become a respectable dish. Cooking in the pot can be difficult, but you can work around this problem by using a microwave oven, thus cooking a perfect poached egg.
Ingrediants
- 1 egg
- 120 ml of water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Prepare the Ingredients
Step 1. Get a cup and lid that can be used in the microwave
Most plastic, glass and ceramic cups and lids have "Microwave Safe" on the bottom. Therefore, use containers of this type and avoid those made of metal or aluminum.
Step 2. Fill the cup with 120ml of water
Use a measuring cup and pour the right amount of water into the microwave container.
Step 3. Break an egg into the cup
Beat it on the edge of the container once or twice to break the shell, being very careful not to break the yolk. Pry with your fingers to separate the two halves of the shell and let the egg fall into the cup of water.
Step 4. Make sure the egg is completely submerged in water
If not, use a measuring cup to add another 60ml of liquid. At this point the egg should be submerged.
Part 2 of 2: Poached Egg
Step 1. Heat the egg in the microwave oven, set at maximum power, for about one minute
Put the cup in the appliance and put the lid on. Close the microwave door and turn it on at maximum power for one minute.
Step 2. Before serving, check that the egg is well cooked
Open the microwave and carefully remove the lid from the cup. The egg white should be firm, but the yolk still runny. If the egg white is also too liquid, close the door and cook for another 15 seconds. Check once more to be sure of cooking.
Step 3. Remove the egg from the cup with the help of a skimmer
When the egg is cooked to perfection, you can carefully remove the lid and take the cup out of the appliance. With a slotted spoon, drain the egg and transfer it to a plate or bowl.
Step 4. Season with salt and pepper to your taste
Add a pinch of salt and pepper to your perfectly poached egg and bring it to the table.
Warnings
- Do not put metal dishes or aluminum foil in the microwave.
- You can only cook one egg at a time.
