Cheese is one of the most used ingredients ever to fill a sandwich, but on its own it is not always tasty. At least the bread should be moistened, for example by using butter. Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Step 1. Butter 2 slices of bread
Spread 1/2 tablespoon of butter on each slice, buttering only one side. You can use any type of bread you prefer, but sourdough bread is particularly good for making a grilled cheese sandwich.
To modify the recipe, pour olive oil into a pan and use it to coat the slices of bread, rather than butter them
Step 2. Heat a skillet over medium heat
It is not necessary to grease it, as you have already buttered the bread.
Step 3. Layer the bread and cheese
Place a slice of bread on the pan with the buttered side facing down. Add 1-2 slices of cheddar.
For a gourmet touch, you can also try another type of cheese, such as Monterey Jack
Step 4. Add more ingredients, if desired, and the second slice of bread
You can stuff it with just cheese or choose other ingredients. When placing the second slice of bread, be sure to face the buttered side up.
- Sprinkle sliced or crumbled bacon over the cheese.
- Fill the sandwich by placing a slice of ham on top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle herbs on top of the cheese, such as basil, oregano, or rosemary. This variant is particularly suitable if you want to garnish the sandwich with aromatic herbs.
- Add some tomato slices and bacon.
Step 5. Grill the bun until lightly browned
It will take about 2-3 minutes. You can also cook it until the cheese has melted.
Step 6. Flip the sandwich and continue grilling
Once the bread has browned and the cheese is melted, stick a spatula underneath and turn it over. Grill it for another 1-2 minutes.
Step 7. Serve the sandwich
Serve it with the help of a spatula. Leave it whole, or cut it in half vertically or diagonally.
Method 2 of 3: Make a Ham and Cheese Sandwich
Step 1. Take 2 slices of ciabatta
You can also try using another type of bread.
Step 2. Place 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on a slice of bread
If you don't like Swiss cheese, you can try another one, like Monterey Jack
Step 3. Make the honey and mustard cream
Pour the mayonnaise into a small bowl, then add honey, dried mustard, and poppy seeds. Mix the ingredients with a fork or whisk until smooth.
Step 4. Spread it on the other slice of bread with a butter knife
Step 5. Complete the sandwich preparation
Place the slice on which you spread the cream on the lower one. To make a more sophisticated sandwich, mix a pinch of poppy seeds with 5ml of melted butter, then smear it on the surface of the sandwich with a pastry brush.
Step 6. If desired, bake the sandwich
To make an even tastier and more delicious sandwich, preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Once the right temperature is reached, place the sandwich on a baking sheet and let it cook for 15-20 minutes.
Step 7. Serve him
If you baked it, let it cool for about 3-5 minutes before eating. Do you want to create a dish that is pleasing to the eye? Cut it in half and stick a sandwich / cocktail toothpick in the center of each half.
Method 3 of 3: Make a Vegetarian Cheese Sandwich
Step 1. Spread the softened butter on the bread of your choice
Cut 2 slices of bread (prefer one with a thick crust, such as a baguette). Butter them both.
- To make a gourmet sandwich, try using pesto, olive oil or hummus.
- You can also use mayonnaise or a thick, creamy salad dressing, such as ranch sauce, vinaigrette, or green goddess sauce.
Step 2. Place 1-2 lettuce leaves on the bottom slice (face butter side up)
If they are much larger than the bun, first cut them in half or thirds.
Some types of lettuce have a very thick and bulky central stem. Cut it with a sharp knife to keep it from bothering you
Step 3. Make the sandwich even tastier by adding a thin slice of red onion
Separate it into rings and lay them on the lettuce (you can use as many as you like).
If you want you can skip this step
Step 4. Cut 2 thick slices of tomato, then lay them on top of the lettuce and onion
A juicy tomato would be perfect.
Step 5. If you like, season the sandwich with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste
Sprinkle them on the tomato slices.
Step 6. Complete the preparation by carefully placing 1-2 slices of white cheddar
Make sure they completely cover the tomatoes to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
Don't like cheddar? Try Swiss cheese, Monterey Jack or provolone
Step 7. Place the second slice on the topping and serve the sandwich
Cut it in half diagonally from corner to corner to get a pleasing result. Stick a decorative toothpick or cocktail stick in the center of each half to secure it.
Advice
- Homemade bread is tastier and fresher.
- You can also toast the bread for a crunchy sandwich.
- Experiment with various fillings and types of cheese.
- Don't be afraid to stuff it with different types of cheese.
- Fresh rolls are tastier. Don't wait too long before eating them, or they'll get greasy or mushy.
