Exquisite and easy to prepare, the cheeseburger is a perfect dish to pamper the palate and indulge yourself. But if you hate to see the cheese run off as soon as you bite into it, you might want to try making a stuffed burger. Instead of placing the cheese on the burger, place it between two meat medallions, so you can enjoy it without problems. Finish off with lettuce, tomato, and ketchup or any other garnish you want. The old cheeseburger will become a distant memory.
Ingrediants
- 900 g of minced meat
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons (2 g) of paprika
- 115g strong cheddar or Monterey Jack cut into strips
- 1 finely chopped shallot
- Canola oil
- 6 hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomato and toppings for serving the burger
Doses for 6 servings
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Seasoning and Shaping the Meat
Step 1. Preheat the grill
In this way, when the preparation is complete you can immediately put the burgers to cook. Set it to medium-high heat and let it heat up.
Alternatively, the burgers can be cooked using the oven grill or a skillet
Step 2. Place 900g of ground beef in a large bowl
To season it, add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons (2 g) of paprika, salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix it gently with clean hands until you get a homogeneous result.
- Try not to work it too hard during the procedure, or you risk ending up with tough burgers.
- The meat can be seasoned as you wish. For example, garlic powder, onion powder and chilli flakes are particularly suitable.
Step 3. Once you have finished mixing the meat, gently shape it with your hands until you have 12 thin medallions
They should have a diameter of about 8 cm. Put them aside momentarily.
If you have trouble forming medallions, you may want to help yourself with a jar lid or a special mold
Part 2 of 3: Stuff the Burgers
Step 1. Once the medallions have been created, place 115 g of stiff-flavored cheddar or Monterey Jack cut into strips and a finely chopped shallot in a small bowl
Mix it well.
- You can use any type of hard cheese, as long as it can melt on burgers. Swiss cheese, gruyere and Monterey Jack are particularly good. If desired, it is also possible to mix 2 or more types of cheese.
- If you love bacon cheeseburger, add 4 slices of cooked and crumbled bacon. Mix it with the cheese and shallot.
Step 2. At this point, take the cheese and shallot mixture (calculate about 1 or 2 tablespoons, or 7 or 14 g) and distribute it on the surface of the 6 medallions
Make sure you leave a 1.5 cm border around the perimeter of the burgers.
Try not to over-stuff the burgers, or the filling may run off during cooking
Step 3. Now, lay the other medallion over the burgers, then press it on the edges to make sure you close it tightly, forming a single cheeseburger with 2 medallions
Make sure you secure the cheeseburger around the entire perimeter. If it has openings, the cheese could leak out during cooking
Part 3 of 3: Cooking the Burgers
Step 1. Just before putting the burgers to cook, press them one at a time to flatten them until they have a diameter of about 10 cm
Using a pastry brush, lightly coat each cheeseburger with oil to prevent it from sticking to the grill.
Remember to rub the oil on both sides of the burger
Step 2. Place the burgers on the hot grill and let them cook on their side for 3 minutes
The total time depends on the desired doneness (for example, burgers rare or well done). In any case, you should always let them cook for 3 minutes on the first side
Step 3. After 3 minutes, turn the burgers with a spatula and cook for another 4 or 7 minutes depending on the desired doneness
- If you prefer them rare, let them cook for another 4 minutes.
- If you prefer medium, let them cook for another 5 minutes.
- If you want them to be halfway between medium and well done, let them cook for another 6 minutes.
- If you want them to be well cooked, let them cook for another 7 minutes.
Step 4. When cooked, place them on the plate and let them rest for 3 or 5 minutes in order to intensify their flavor
Step 5. When it comes time to serve them, lay them on the bread
Add toppings, such as lettuce and tomato, and your favorite toppings, such as ketchup and barbecue sauce. Enjoy your meal !
- It is recommended to toast the sandwiches on the grill before stuffing them with burgers.
- Once the burgers are garnished, serve them immediately to savor them at their best.
