Potato juice has multiple health benefits. In the first place it is an excellent source of nutrients and is able to neutralize gastric juices, plus it can be used for skin care. Juicing raw potatoes is very simple, even if you don't have a juicer. It will only take a few minutes and, once ready, you can take advantage of its incredible benefits by sipping it or applying it directly to the skin.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Prepare the Potato Juice with the Juicer
Step 1. Cut the potato into cubes
First divide it in half with the knife, then cut it two or three more times to get a total of 4 or 6 cubes. It is not necessary that they are of precise size, the only purpose is to be able to spin the pulp of the potato more quickly.
Step 2. Place the jug or glass next to the juicer
The potato juice will come out of a side spout. Arrange the container carefully so that not a single drop is wasted.
Step 3. Remove the cap from the top of the centrifuge
In most models there is a cylindrical cap that serves to push the ingredients towards the blades and to close the upper opening. You can easily pull it out by pulling it upwards with your hands.
Step 4. Turn on the centrifuge
After removing the cap that closes the opening where the ingredients are to be inserted, look for the button that is used to activate the centrifuge. Generally the power button is placed in evidence on the front of the appliance. Set the speed to maximum to extract the juice from the potato as quickly as possible.
If you don't know how to use the centrifuge, read the instruction manual before turning it on. Each model differs slightly from the others
Step 5. Insert the potato into the cylindrical opening
Insert it into the upper mouth, from where you removed the cap. If you want to centrifuge other vegetables as well, insert them in the opening before or after the potato.
Step 6. Push the potato down using the cap
Grab the cylindrical cap and insert it into the opening after the potato. Gently push it down so that it is chopped by the blades to extract the juice.
Part 2 of 3: Prepare the Potato Juice with the Blender
Step 1. Cut the potato into cubes
First divide it in half, then cut it into very small cubes. Keep in mind that the smaller they are, the more you will be able to blend them quickly to extract juice.
Step 2. Put the potato cubes in the blender and add the water
The amount of water required varies according to the size of the potato, but in general a little is enough. It is sufficient that all cubes are submerged.
Step 3. Blend the potato
Turn on the blender at maximum speed. Blend the potato until you get a soft puree. The time required depends on the power of the blender.
Step 4. Pour the puree into a colander
Take a fine mesh colander and place it on top of a cup or glass. The meshes will retain the pulp while the potato juice will drain into the container below.
Step 5. Squeeze the pulp with a spoon or fork
First, mix the pulp in the colander, then mash it with the back of a spoon or fork to extract every last drop of juice.
Part 3 of 3: Using Potato Juice
Step 1. Drink it by yourself
Potatoes are rich in nutrients, including potassium for example. Potato juice is a healthy drink in itself. You can have a glass of it during your meal instead of water.
Step 2. Combine it with other juices or add it to smoothies
Potato juice has a mild taste, so you can combine it with other ingredients to broaden the range of nutrients.
When making smoothies, you can substitute it with water to dilute the consistency
Step 3. Use it for skin care
It is useful for eliminating pimples and skin imperfections. You can apply it directly to the skin and leave it on for about twenty minutes before rinsing off. Your face will look healthier and brighter from the very first applications and over time the small wrinkles, acne and blemishes will be attenuated.
Step 4. Store it properly
Transfer the potato juice to a jar or bottle. Choose a container of the right size so that the amount of air inside is minimal. Screw the cap tightly onto the jar or bottle and store the juice in the refrigerator. Potato juice can last for a few months if you store it properly.
