This guide explains how to find, prepare and eat food in the mobile version of Minecraft. You can only do this in Survival mode on "Easy" difficulty or higher and your hunger bar must be below 100%.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Configure
Step 1. Launch Minecraft PE
The app icon depicts a clump of grass on top of a block of earth.
Step 2. Click on Play
This button is located in the center of the screen.
By launching the app, your phone or tablet will go into landscape mode, so you will have to keep it horizontally and not vertically
Step 3. Press an existing world
This will load your last saved position.
- The world you have selected must be in Survival mode and the difficulty cannot be set to "Peaceful".
- You can also press "Create New" at the top of the screen, then press Generate randomly always at the top of the next page, in order to customize the settings of a new world. To start the newly created world, click on Plays which you will find on the left side of the screen.
Method 2 of 3: Getting and Eating Raw Food
Step 1. Decide what kind of food to eat
There are several ways to get food in Minecraft.
Step 2. Find an animal or an oak
Regardless of your starting point in the world, you will always have animals or oaks close to you.
- Kill an animal and collect the items it drops. You can kill one by repeatedly pressing on it, so that it flashes red.
- Only oak and black oak trees drop apples. No other type of tree gives edible items.
Step 3. Kill an animal or get leaves from a tree
In the early stages of the game, the best strategy is to look for a pig, a sheep or a hen and repeatedly press on them until they die; alternatively, you can look for an oak and take all the leaves. To collect the leaves, press on them until the circle around your finger fills completely. In rare cases, you will get an apple.
- Foods to avoid include rotten meat (which you can get by killing zombies) and spider eyes (which you get from spiders), because these items poison you.
- You don't need any tools to complete these steps.
Step 4. Build a fishing rod and cast it into a body of water
You will see a trail of bubbles appear and the float will drop underwater. Roll the rod when the fish has taken the bite and you will put it in the inventory. By fishing you can get salmon, clownfish, puffer fish and various treasures (leather, saddles, spellbooks, etc.).
Do not eat puffer fish, as it will make you nauseous, hungry even more and you will be poisoned
Step 5. Select the food
You can do this by pressing the corresponding icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen or you can select it from the inventory by pressing … on the right side of the item bar, before pressing on the item you want in the inventory.
Step 6. Press and hold on the screen
Your character will bring the food to his mouth and after a few seconds will make it disappear. By eating you will recover part of the hunger bar.
Remember, you can only eat when your hunger bar, located in the upper right corner of the screen, is 100% lower; otherwise, you will use food simply as a tool to hit the blocks
Method 3 of 3: Cook the Food
Step 1. Gather the necessary resources
To cook food, you need a furnace, wood or coal, and a piece of meat or potatoes. To build a furnace, you need a workbench and 8 crushed stone blocks.
- To make a workbench, cut a block of wood.
- To dig the crushed stone you need at least the wooden pickaxe.
- Cut another block of wood to use as fuel for the furnace. Alternatively, take two more: burn one to get coal. With one unit of coal you can burn up to 8 items.
Step 2. Press…
You will see this button to the right of the item bar at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Press the "Creation" tab
You'll find it on the left side of the screen, just above the tab in the lower right corner.
Step 4. Press the wooden planks icon, then press 4 x
The button 4 x it is located on the right side of the screen, to the left of the axis icon. Press it to convert a block of wood into 4 planks.
Step 5. Press the workbench icon, then press 1 x
This icon looks like the one of the card you are using. Press it to create the workbench.
Step 6. Press the workbench into the item bar
This way you will put it in your character's hand.
If the dealer is not in the item bar, press twice …, then press the workbench icon in the inventory.
Step 7. Press X in the upper left corner of the screen
Step 8. Press an empty space in front of you
This will place the workbench on the ground.
Step 9. When you have at least 8 crushed stone blocks, press the workbench
The creation interface will open, from which you can select the furnace.
Step 10. Press the furnace icon, then press 1 x
The icon you are looking for is a gray block of stone with a black opening in front.
Step 11. Press X again
This will close the workbench interface.
Step 12. Press the furnace in the item bar
This way, your character will pick it up.
Again, if you don't see the furnace, press … and select it from the inventory.
Step 13. Press an empty space in front of you
This will place the furnace on the ground.
Step 14. Press the furnace
Its interface will open. You will see three boxes on the right side of the screen:
- Entrance, this is where you have to put the food;
- Fuel, it is here you need to put the wood;
- Result, is where cooked food will appear.
Step 15. Press the "Entrance" box, then press a piece of meat
This will put it in the "Input" box.
Step 16. Press the "Fuel" box, then press a wooden block
You will put the wood in the furnace, starting the cooking process.
Step 17. Wait for the cooking to finish
Once an item appears in the "Result" box, the food is ready.
Step 18. Double tap on the food in the "Result" box
This will move it to your inventory.
Step 19. Select the food
You can do this by pressing the corresponding icon in the item bar at the bottom of the screen, or you can select it from the inventory by pressing … to the right of the bar, before pressing on the inventory item.
Step 20. Press and hold on the screen
Your character will bring the food to the mouth and after a few seconds will make it disappear. By eating you will recover part of the hunger bar.
- Remember: you can only eat when your hunger bar, located in the upper right corner of the screen, is lower than 100%; otherwise, you will use food simply as a tool to hit the blocks.
- Cooked food fills the hunger bar more than raw food.
