The Turnip Market, the place where Animal Crossing players can sell and buy turnips for money, has long been a fixture in this series of games. Nella is a wild boar that visits your Animal Crossing town every Sunday, selling its turnips at different prices. In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, a novelty has been introduced to the market, the beetroot. Buying beetroot is only possible in these two versions of the game.

Step 1. Find Nella

Every week Nella will appear in your Animal Crossing town. To find it, be sure to go through and check the entire map.

  • Nella will only appear on Sundays from 6 to 12.
  • If you have traveled through time during the week, Nella will NOT sell you the beetroot seeds and you will not be able to buy one before the following week (provided you do not travel through time again).

Step 1. Plant the beetroot seeds

Unlike white turnips, which are sold already grown, Nella will only sell seeds from red turnips. You will need to plant the seeds and grow them yourself, before you can make money from selling them.

  • To plant a seed, dig a hole in the ground (by pressing "Y") with your spade. Then plant the beetroot seed bag.
  • Beetroots take 6 days to fully grow.

Step 2. Water the seeds

To water the beetroot seeds, equip your watering can, stand next to the turnips and press "A".

  • Beetroot seeds need to be watered every day.
  • If you don't water the beetroot seeds every day they will wilt and die, thus becoming unsaleable.
  • Too much water will also harm beetroot - be careful and water them only once a day for six days.

Step 3. Grow your seeds

Your income is directly based on how long you will allow the turnips to grow. Below you can find the selling price of beetroot relative to the number of days:

  • 0 days (the same day they were planted) - 2 starlets
  • 1 day (the next day) - 100 little stars
  • 2 days - 500 stars
  • 3 days - 2,000 bells
  • 4 days - 4,000 bells
  • 5 days - 8,000 bells
  • 6 days - 16,000 bells

Advice

  • Time travel will prevent you from getting a beetroot seed from Nella for the week in question; besides, the red turnips you planted will die.
  • Remember to water your beetroot every day.
  • You can retrieve the wilted beetroot seeds if you have a silver watering can. By using the silver watering can to get a beetroot seed to resume, however, you will bring it back to its starting condition. You will have to plant it and start over.
  • You can only buy one red turnip seed per week from Nella, so your maximum payout will be 15,000 bells per week, a hefty sum at the start of the game, although most players may think it's not worth it later on. penalty.
  • Beetroot only exists in Wild World and City Folk; have been removed from A New Leaf.
