This article explains how to access the BIOS of both a Lenovo desktop and laptop computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Use the Windows 10 Advanced Options Menu
Step 1. Access the "Start" menu by clicking on the icon
It features the Windows logo and is located in the lower left corner of the desktop.
Step 2. Click on the "Settings" icon
It is displayed in the lower left of the menu.
Step 3. Click the Update & Security icon
It is characterized by two curved arrows.
Step 4. Click on the Restore tab
It is listed in the left pane of the window.
Step 5. Click the Restart Now button
It is located within the "Advanced Startup" section of the right pane of the window. Your computer will restart and an advanced menu will be displayed on a blue background.
Step 6. Click on the Troubleshoot option
It features an icon depicting a screwdriver and wrench.
Step 7. Click on the Advanced Options item
It's the last one on the menu.
Step 8. Click on UEFI Firmware Settings option
It is listed in the right section of the window.
Step 9. Click the Restart button
The computer will automatically restart and you will have access to the BIOS.
Method 2 of 4: Use the Shift key in Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8
Step 1. Log out of Windows

Windows 10:

Click on the button Start

- Click on your username, displayed in the upper left corner of the menu;
- Click on the item Disconnect.

Windows 8.1 / 8:
- Press the key combination ⊞ Win + X;
- Click on the option Close or log out, the last option on the menu;
- Click on the item Disconnect.
Step 2. Hold down the ⇧ Shift key while clicking on the "Stop" icon
of the menu.
Do not release the "Shift" key when the menu with the "Stop" icon appears.
Step 3. Continue holding the ⇧ Shift key as you click on the item Restart.
Hold down the "Shift" key while the computer is restarting, until a menu appears on the screen on a blue background.
Step 4. Click on the Troubleshoot option
It features an icon depicting a screwdriver and wrench.
Step 5. Click on the Advanced Options item
It is the last option on the menu.
Step 6. Click on UEFI Firmware Settings option
It is listed in the right section of the window.
Step 7. Click the Restart button
The computer will automatically restart and you will enter the BIOS.
Method 3 of 4: Use the Windows 8.1 / 8 Advanced Options Menu
Step 1. Move the mouse cursor to the top right corner of the desktop then move it down
A small menu will appear.
Step 2. Click on the Settings item
Step 3. Click on Change PC Settings option
It is displayed at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Click the Update and Repair tab
It is displayed at the bottom left of the page.
Step 5. Click on the Restore item
It is visible in the left panel of the page.
Step 6. Click the Restart Now button
It is located in the "Advanced Startup" section of the right pane of the window. The computer will restart and a menu will appear on the screen on a blue background.

Method 4 of 4: Use the Function Key on Computer Restart (All Windows Versions)
Step 1. Restart your computer or turn it on if it is off
As soon as the computer starts up or restarts, a black screen will appear with "Lenovo" in large white letters. This screen should only remain visible for a few seconds, so you will need to be very quick to perform the next step.
If you are using Windows 8 / 8.1, you will need to restart your computer using the operating system options to be able to access the BIOS. From the Windows desktop, press the key combination ⊞ Win + i, click on the icon Stop and finally click on the option Restart.
Step 2. Press the F1 key repeatedly or F2 until the BIOS user interface appears.
Try to press the indicated key twice per second. The BIOS entry key will appear listed at the bottom of the screen showing "Lenovo", followed by "to Setup" and will vary by computer model.
